Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Business Radar (“we”, “us”) publishes business, finance and markets news at businessradar.co.ke. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and the rights you have under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and its regulations.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Business Radar is the data controller for personal data collected through businessradar.co.ke. You can contact us about privacy at editor@businessradar.co.ke.

2. What we collect

  • Information you give us: your name, email address and message when you use our contact form or email us, and any details you include in a news tip or correction request.
  • Information collected automatically: technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring website and the time of your visit. This is collected through server logs, cookies and similar technologies.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data, and the site is not directed at children.

3. How we use your data

  • to run, secure and improve the website;
  • to understand which articles readers find useful, using aggregated analytics;
  • to reply to messages, tips and correction requests;
  • to meet legal obligations.

We process data on the basis of your consent (for example for non-essential cookies), our legitimate interests in running and improving a news website, and compliance with the law, as permitted by section 30 of the Data Protection Act, 2019.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies needed for the site to work, and analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics, provided by Google) that help us measure traffic in aggregate. Analytics providers may process data outside Kenya under their own privacy policies and appropriate safeguards. If we display advertising in future, ad partners may also set cookies; we will update this policy when that happens.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies using our cookie notice, and you can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

5. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site (for example hosting, security, email and analytics providers), when required by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of others. Where data is transferred outside Kenya, we take the steps required by the Data Protection Act, 2019 to keep it protected.

6. How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Contact messages are generally kept for up to two years, and analytics data is kept in aggregated or pseudonymised form under our analytics provider’s retention settings.

7. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to:

  • be informed of how your personal data is used;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • object to the processing of all or part of your data;
  • have false or misleading data corrected;
  • have false or misleading data deleted;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
  • request data portability where applicable.

To exercise these rights, email editor@businessradar.co.ke. We will respond within the time limits set by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) at www.odpc.go.ke.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), to protect personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

9. Links to other sites

Our articles may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
