About Egerton University Sacco Society Ltd

Egerton University Sacco Society Ltd is a deposit-taking SACCO licensed by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) for 2026. Its head office is at Egerton Sacco Plaza, Egerton University, Njoro Township, in Nakuru County.

Egerton University Sacco loan rates

Egerton University Sacco publishes these rates on its website (egertonsacco.coop), checked on 13 October 2026:

  • Normal / Fahari loan (1% p.m.)
  • Emergency / Education loan (1.25% p.m.)
  • Development loan (1.33% p.m.)
  • Household items loan (1.45% p.m.)

The calculator is prefilled with these figures. SACCOs usually quote rates per month, so 1% a month equals 12% a year.

How to use the calculator

  1. Choose a loan product or keep the default rate.
  2. Enter the amount you want to borrow and the term in months.
  3. Check that the method (reducing balance or flat) matches your loan.
  4. Tap “Show repayment schedule” to see each month’s principal and interest.

Loan limits and guarantors

Unlike banks, SACCOs lend mainly against your deposits and your guarantors’ deposits. Ask the Sacco for its exact multiplier. Keep up regular monthly contributions, because the longer and more consistently you save, the more you can borrow.

Before you apply

Check your deposit balance, confirm your guarantors still have enough free deposits, and make sure your monthly net pay can absorb the new deduction. Clearing small loans first and keeping your contributions current both make approval faster at Egerton University Sacco.

Tips to borrow wisely

  • Borrow for productive needs, such as school fees, land, business stock or farm inputs.
  • Keep the installment within about a third of your net income.
  • Protect your guarantors by repaying on time.
  • Keep a copy of the repayment schedule to check against your statements.

FAQs

It is an estimate. Your final installment depends on the rate in your loan agreement, the repayment start date and any charges.

Can I repay early?

Many SACCOs allow early repayment or loan top-ups. Confirm the terms with Egerton University Sacco.
