Stima DT Sacco, the deposit-taking Sacco that grew out of Kenya’s electricity sector, paid members a 16% dividend on share capital and 11% interest on deposits for the year ended 31 December 2025. Delegates approved the payout at the Sacco’s 52nd annual general meeting in March 2026. Use the calculator below to estimate what your own Alpha deposits and shares would earn at those rates.

Rates are what was last published, gross of tax. Money market funds are compounded monthly; bills, bonds, deposits and SACCO returns are worked out as simple interest. Your actual return will differ.

The tool starts with the 11% deposit rate. To estimate the dividend on your share capital, change the rate to 16%. A 5% withholding tax applies to Sacco dividends and interest, and the calculator deducts it by default.

Stima Sacco Dividend History

Financial year Dividend on share capital Interest on Alpha deposits
2025 (paid 2026) 16% 11%
2024 (paid 2025) 16% 11%
2023 (paid 2024) 15% 11%

For 2025 the Sacco said the 11% rebate came to KSh 4.32 billion on deposits that had grown to about KSh 52.1 billion, while the 16% dividend totalled KSh 788.7 million on share capital of about KSh 5.5 billion. The board linked the payout to a 2.5% rise in net profit to about KSh 2.2 billion, helped by a 17.1% cut in administrative costs. The rates were unchanged from the year before.

What It Means for a Member

A member who held KSh 200,000 in Alpha deposits through 2025 and KSh 25,000 in share capital would have earned about KSh 22,000 in interest and KSh 4,000 in dividends before tax. After the 5% withholding tax, that is roughly KSh 24,700. Because Saccos usually work out deposit interest on monthly balances, money saved in January earns more than money added in December.

Alpha Deposits, Prime and Share Capital

Every new Stima member gets three accounts:

  • Prime account: a transactional account you can use like a current account.
  • Alpha deposit: non-withdrawable savings that earn the yearly interest rebate and act as the multiplier for how much you can borrow.
  • Share capital: your ownership stake, which earns the dividend. Stima says share capital is non-refundable; Alpha deposits are refunded when you leave, provided you have no outstanding or guaranteed loans.
