Updated 20 October 2026
Kenya National Police DT Sacco has held its returns steady for three years running: 17% on share capital and 11% on deposits. For 2025 the Sacco paid out about KSh 4.1 billion to members after its annual delegates meeting in February 2026, up from KSh 3.9 billion a year earlier. The calculator below shows what that 11% deposit rate would earn on your own savings.
Rates are what was last published, gross of tax. Money market funds are compounded monthly; bills, bonds, deposits and SACCO returns are worked out as simple interest. Your actual return will differ.
Enter your deposit balance to see the interest. For the dividend on your share capital, switch the rate to 17%. The tool deducts the 5% withholding tax that applies to Sacco payouts.
Police Sacco Returns by Year
| Financial year | Dividend on shares | Interest on deposits | Total paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 17% | 11% | About KSh 4.1 billion |
| 2024 | 17% | 11% | About KSh 3.9 billion |
| 2023 | 17% | 11% | KSh 552 million in dividends plus about KSh 2.7 billion in interest |
For 2024, news reports put the split at KSh 624.2 million in share dividends and KSh 3.3 billion in deposit interest. For 2025 the Sacco reported total assets of KSh 66.6 billion, up from KSh 59 billion, revenue of KSh 15.27 billion and deposits above KSh 36 billion. It serves about 75,000 members and has said it is aiming for KSh 100 billion in assets within five years.
Worked Example
An officer with KSh 300,000 in deposits and KSh 20,000 in share capital through 2025 would have earned KSh 33,000 in deposit interest and KSh 3,400 in dividends, a total of KSh 36,400 before tax, or about KSh 34,580 after the 5% withholding tax. The chief executive, Solomon Angutsa Atsiaya, urged members to plough returns back into the Sacco, since higher share capital earns a higher dividend the following year.
Who Can Join
The Sacco began as a savings society for police officers, but membership is now much wider. It is open to:
- Serving and retired National Police Service officers
- Civilians employed by the National Police Service
- Civil servants and other salaried employees
- Business people and Kenyans in the diaspora
- Spouses and children of members who are 18 or older

Joining Requirements
- A completed membership application form, available from the Sacco’s downloads page or branches
- A copy of your national ID or passport
- Two passport-size photos
- A registration fee of KSh 2,000
- Minimum share capital of KSh 20,000, which the Sacco allows members to build up in instalments
After joining, you contribute monthly deposits, by check-off from salary or directly. Your deposit balance is what the Sacco uses to set how much you can borrow, so steady monthly saving matters as much as the yearly return.
