“How much to connect my home?” gets the same answer every time: there is no fixed price. Here is the process Kenya Power describes.
Based on questions customers sent to Kenya Power’s official customer-care X account (@KenyaPower_Care) and Kenya Power’s own replies, checked on 14 October 2026. Questions are paraphrased.
How to apply
Apply on the Kenya Power Self-Service Portal (selfservice.kplc.co.ke) using the Enquiry for Supply of Electricity form, attaching a copy of your national ID, KRA PIN certificate, land ownership document and a route sketch map.
Cost
Kenya Power says the cost is not fixed: after you apply, its team assesses the site and issues a personalised quotation. There is “no estimated cost at this stage” before the assessment. We will not quote a figure.

Timelines Kenya Power gives
- Quotation, meter only: about 7 days.
- Quotation needing network extension or a transformer: 14–28 days.
- Installation after paying the quotation: generally 14–21 working days.
Kenya Power adds that timelines depend on site requirements and that you can track progress on the MyPower app.
Last Mile and prepaid switches
Kenya Power says it cannot confirm Last Mile availability for an area remotely – visit the nearest KPLC office. To switch from postpaid to prepaid, visit a Kenya Power office with your ID and account details.
