Based on questions customers sent to Kenya Power’s official customer-care X account (@KenyaPower_Care) and Kenya Power’s own replies, checked on 14 October 2026. Questions are paraphrased.

How to report

Kenya Power says you can report an outage on *977# or the MyPower app. On X it asks for your meter/account number (and sometimes a landmark like a school or church). Keep the reference number it gives you to track progress.

Check planned maintenance first

Kenya Power posts the next day’s planned maintenance areas on its X page every evening.

Faulty transformer = no timeline

Where a transformer is faulty, Kenya Power says it cannot give a specific timeline because repair or replacement is complex.

Bribes and fake staff

To report staff asking for bribes, Kenya Power points customers to the whistle-blower tab on its website. It also says you can verify staff or contractors on the MyPower app. Do not post your phone number publicly – Kenya Power asks customers to delete it.
