The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) runs most of its dealings with teachers online. Registration, profile updates, transfer requests, performance appraisal, promotion applications, payslips and tax forms all have a portal. The trouble is that they are spread across several systems with different logins, and many teachers waste time trying the wrong one. This guide maps the TSC online services, explains what each one does, how you log in and where to go when something fails.
In this guide
The Main TSC Portals
| Portal | Address | What it is for | Login |
|---|---|---|---|
| TSC Online Services | tsconline.tsc.go.ke | Teacher registration, registration status, advertised posts, entry and exit returns | TSC number to confirm your account; heads of institutions log in for returns |
| Teachers Online (TMIS) | teachersonline.tsc.go.ke | Menu for registration, profile updates, transfers and swaps, TPAD, promotions and other modules | Official user name and password |
| TPAD | tpad2.tsc.go.ke | Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development | TSC number, ID number and password |
| T-Pay | tpay.tsc.go.ke | Payslips, P9 forms and third party deductions | User name, password and a simple arithmetic security check |
All TSC addresses end in tsc.go.ke. Type them yourself, and be wary of look-alike pages that ask for payment or your password.
What You Can Do on TSC Online Services
The services menu lists the following modules:
- New Teacher Registration (Citizen): the online application for a TSC number and certificate of registration.
- Teacher Registration (Non-Citizen) and Non-Citizen Certificate Renewal: for foreign teachers.
- Registration Status: to follow up an application you have already submitted.
- Application for Duplicate Certificate of Registration: if your certificate is lost or damaged.
- TPAD Teacher Performance Appraisal: a link through to the appraisal system.
- Update Profile (All Registered Teachers) and Teacher Profile Update (Not Employed by the Commission): to keep personal, qualification and contact details current.
- New Transfer/SWAP Module: for transfer and swap requests.
- CBE Module: tied to the competency based education rollout.
- Teacher Posting, Entry/Exit and Teacher Registration and the Discipline Module: mostly for heads of institutions and TSC officers.
- Application for Deployment of Primary School Teachers to Junior Secondary Schools.
- Active Promotion Adverts: current promotion vacancies you can apply for.
Teacher Registration
The Constitution and Section 23 of the TSC Act make it an offence to teach in Kenya without being registered. The portal is where new teachers apply for registration, pay the fee through eCitizen methods and later check their status. Our step by step guide to registering as a teacher with TSC covers the documents, the KSh1,050 fee and what happens after you apply, and the TSC teachers hub gathers all our teacher guides. If an upload fails because a scan is too large, our free TSC document compressor shrinks files in your browser without sending them to any server.
Advertised Posts and Recruitment
When TSC advertises vacancies, whether teaching posts in schools or jobs in its own secretariat, you apply through the online system and can track each stage up to appointment. The portal states plainly that if you apply online you do not need to send a hard copy, that no payment of any kind is required and that registered teachers do not need to register again. With a fresh recruitment expected from November, see our TSC recruitment guide for November 2026 for what to prepare.
Entry and Exit Returns
Entry and exit returns are filed by heads of institutions or authorised officers. They record teachers joining or leaving a school and issues such as interdiction or suspension, and they can only be accessed after the head of institution logs in. If you are a teacher waiting for a posting to show, ask your head teacher whether your entry return has been filed.

TPAD
TPAD, the Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development tool, is where teachers record appraisal targets, lesson observations and professional development each term. The login asks for your TSC number, your ID number and a password, and there is a Forgot Password option on the same page. Appraisal records feed into decisions such as promotion, so keep them complete.
T-Pay: Payslips and P9 Forms
T-Pay is the payroll portal. Serving teachers use it to view and download payslips, download P9 forms for filing KRA returns and see third party deductions such as loans and insurance. The login page also carries direct links to download the 2025 P9 for current and former employees. Our guide on how to get a TSC P9 form explains the process step by step.
How to Log In Step by Step
- Pick the portal for your task from the table above.
- Type the address yourself and confirm it ends in tsc.go.ke.
- Enter the details that portal asks for: your TSC number, ID number, user name or password.
- Complete any security check, such as the arithmetic question on T-Pay.
- Open the module you need, finish your task and log out, especially on a shared computer.
Common Problems and Fixes
- Forgotten password: use the Forgot Password link on the portal you are trying to use. Each portal has its own login page and reset option.
- TSC number not recognised: check for typing errors. If you registered recently, check Registration Status, since a number is issued only after approval.
- Wrong phone number or email on file: update your profile, so that reset codes and notices reach you.
- Portal slow or down: TSC systems get heavy traffic around recruitment deadlines and appraisal periods. Try early in the morning or late in the evening.
