The Islamic University of Kenya (IUK) is a private, chartered university whose main campus is at Kisaju, along the Nairobi to Namanga Highway in Kajiado County. Through KUCCPS it offers four government-sponsored degree programmes: education (arts), business management, Islamic Sharia and Arabic language. This guide lists each programme with its KUCCPS code and recent cut-off points, the fees the university publishes, the entry requirements and the steps to apply through the KUCCPS portal.

Islamic University of Kenya KUCCPS Courses and Cut-Off Points
The table below shows the IUK programmes on offer in the KUCCPS 2026/2027 cycle, with the cut-off points from the last two placements. The figures are from the KUCCPS programme list as reproduced by Education News Hub in February 2026, and they match the Cluster 18 figures in our own KUCCPS Cluster 18 cut-off table.
| Programme | KUCCPS code | KCSE 2024 cut-off | KCSE 2023 cut-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Education (Arts) | 3895135 | 20.477 | 21.858 |
| Bachelor of Business Management | 3895151 | 19.799 | 21.375 |
| Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Sharia | 3895642 | 19.729 | 20.930 |
| Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Language | 3895667 | 20.473 | 22.449 |
Cut-offs for the KCSE 2025 class were not yet shown in that list. All four programmes became easier to enter between the 2023 and 2024 placements, with each cut-off falling by between about 1.2 and 2 points.
A cut-off point is the weighted cluster score of the last student placed in a programme that year. It is not a fixed pass mark. It moves every year with the number of applicants, their results and the places the university declares. Use these figures to judge how competitive a course is, and read our explainer on how KUCCPS cluster points are calculated to see where you stand.
What Each Programme Covers
Bachelor of Education (Arts)
This is a teacher training degree run by the School of Education for students who want to teach arts subjects in secondary school. Graduates must register with the Teachers Service Commission before they can be employed as teachers. Education programmes fall under KUCCPS Cluster 17, which you can compare across universities in our Cluster 17 cut-off guide.
Bachelor of Business Management
Offered by the School of Business and Economics, this degree trains students in the core functions of running a business. It suits students heading for careers in business, banking, including Islamic banking, and management roles in public and private organisations.
Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Sharia
The School of Sharia and Islamic Studies was the first school set up at the university. The degree focuses on Islamic law and its sources, and suits students aiming for roles in Islamic institutions, education and Sharia-compliant finance.
Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Language
This degree builds advanced Arabic language skills for careers in teaching, translation, diplomacy, media and work in Arabic-speaking countries.
IUK also offers a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, but it is not among the programmes listed for KUCCPS placement in the 2026/2027 cycle, so students join it as self-sponsored applicants.
Fees at Islamic University of Kenya
The university’s admissions portal lists tuition of KSh 48,000 per semester for the Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Sharia, Bachelor of Business Management and Bachelor of Education (Arts). Each degree runs for eight semesters, so tuition over four years comes to about KSh 384,000. Earlier KUCCPS listings showed a year one programme cost of KSh 96,000, which is the same two semesters at KSh 48,000.
Other published fees on the admissions portal include:
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology: KSh 60,000 per semester.
- Certificates in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, and in Business Management: KSh 23,000 per semester over three semesters.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Education: KSh 145,000 per semester.
For KUCCPS-placed students, the government funding model decides how much of the cost is covered by a scholarship and a HELB loan, and how much the household pays. Apply through the Higher Education Financing portal as soon as you get your placement. Our guide on applying for HELB as a first-time applicant explains the steps.

Entry Requirements
- Degrees: KCSE mean grade of C+ or its equivalent, or A level with at least two principal passes and one subsidiary, or a pre-university GPA of 2.5 and above.
- Diplomas: KCSE C minus or its equivalent.

Each KUCCPS programme also sets minimum grades in its cluster subjects, which you can see on the KUCCPS portal under the programme details.
