Sending money is the most common thing people do on M-Pesa, and the fee depends on how much you send. Here are Safaricom’s current rates and a few ways to keep them down.
Current send money fees
Safaricom charges the same fee whether you send to another M-Pesa user or to a registered user on another network like Airtel Money or T-Kash.

Anything up to KSh 100 is free. The highest fee you will ever pay for one transfer is KSh 108.

Limits
| Limit | Amount |
|---|---|
| Per transaction | KSh 250,000 |
| Per day | KSh 500,000 |
| Wallet balance | KSh 500,000 |
Ways to pay less
- Send in one go. Two transfers of KSh 1,000 cost KSh 26, while one of KSh 2,000 costs KSh 33.
- Send big amounts at once. Above KSh 20,000 the fee stays at KSh 108, so a KSh 100,000 transfer costs the same as a KSh 21,000 one.
- Use Pochi or a till for business. Paying a business through Buy Goods is usually free for the customer.
If the person you are paying uses Airtel Money, check our M-Pesa vs Airtel Money comparison, since Airtel to Airtel transfers are free.
