iTax is KRA’s online system for filing returns, paying taxes and downloading compliance certificates. Login needs your PIN and password, plus a short arithmetic check on the login page.

Login steps

  1. Go to itax.kra.go.ke.
  2. Enter your KRA PIN and click Continue.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Solve the security stamp (simple arithmetic) and click Login.

You should land on the iTax dashboard. From there you can file returns, make payments, amend returns and apply for a Tax Compliance Certificate.

If you forgot the password

  1. On the login page, click Forgot Password.
  2. Enter your PIN or ID number as directed.
  3. Open the reset link sent to the email registered on your KRA account.
  4. Set a new password and log in again.

If you no longer use that email, visit a KRA office or Huduma Centre with your original ID. More detail sits in our iTax password and PIN FAQ.

No PIN yet?

Register first using how to get a KRA PIN. The password you create at registration is the same one you use to log in.

Troubleshooting

  • Wrong PIN or password: reset, then retry in a fresh browser session.
  • Security stamp errors: type only the answer to the sum shown.
  • Page errors: try another browser or clear cache; avoid unofficial “iTax apps” that ask for your PIN.
