Quick answer

MRM lists Dumuzas 30G at KSh 436.16 per metre and 32G at KSh 338.72 per metre, so a 3 m sheet costs about KSh 1,308 (gauge 30) or KSh 1,016 (gauge 32).

On Mabati Rolling Mills’ (MRM) official online shop, Dumuzas 30-gauge unpainted is listed at KSh 436.16 per metre and Dumuzas 32-gauge unpainted at KSh 338.72 per metre. That puts a 3 m Dumuzas sheet at about KSh 1,308 in gauge 30 and about KSh 1,016 in gauge 32, and a 2.5 m sheet at about KSh 1,090 (gauge 30). Hardware prices vary by town, delivery and offers, so get a written quote before you buy.

Dumuzas mabati prices in Kenya 2026 by length

Sheet length Gauge 32 (KSh 338.72/m) Gauge 30 (KSh 436.16/m)
1 m (about 3.3 ft) KSh 339 KSh 436
2 m (about 6.5 ft) KSh 677 KSh 872
2.5 m (about 8 ft) KSh 847 KSh 1,090
3 m (about 10 ft) KSh 1,016 KSh 1,308
3.5 m (about 11.5 ft) KSh 1,186 KSh 1,527
4 m (about 13 ft) KSh 1,355 KSh 1,745

We worked out the sheet prices by multiplying the official per-metre price by the length and rounding to the nearest shilling. MRM sells Dumuzas by the metre and cuts sheets to the length you order, so you can ask for odd lengths that fit your roof exactly instead of overlapping standard sheets.

What other sellers charge

Prices outside MRM’s own shop differ quite a lot:

  • One online hardware store lists Dumuzas 30G unpainted at KSh 446.25 per metre, excluding VAT, reduced from KSh 510.
  • Some roadside “mabati factories” advertise much lower prices, for example KSh 270 to KSh 350 per metre for gauge 30. Be careful: Dumuzas is a registered MRM brand, and lower prices are often for a different, thinner or unbranded sheet sold under a similar name.

To be sure you are getting genuine Dumuzas, buy from MRM’s online shop or a distributor listed under “Where to buy” on the MRM website, and check that the sheets carry the Dumuzas branding and gauge marking.

What is Dumuzas?

Dumuzas is MRM’s coated steel roofing sheet. According to MRM, it has a steel core protected by two layers: a metal coat of ZINCAL, an aluminium-zinc alloy that guards against rust, and a thin organic coat on top that protects against scratches. MRM says the sheet reflects heat well, which keeps rooms cooler, and it can be used for roofing, walls and interiors. For colour, MRM sells a pre-painted version called DumuRangi.

Gauge 30 vs gauge 32: which should you buy?

A lower gauge number means thicker steel. Gauge 30 is thicker and stronger than gauge 32, so it resists denting, handles wind better and lasts longer, but it costs about 29% more per metre at MRM’s listed prices. Gauge 32 is common for budget houses, stores and extensions. For a family home, a roof in a windy area or anywhere you will walk on the roof during maintenance, gauge 30 is the safer choice. Some sellers also offer gauge 28, which is thicker still.

How many Dumuzas sheets do you need?

Here is a simple way to estimate your order before you ask for a quote:

  1. Measure each roof slope: the length from the ridge to the edge (eaves) plus about 15 cm overhang gives the sheet length.
  2. Measure the width of the slope along the eaves.
  3. Divide by the sheet’s effective cover width. Ask the seller for the cover width of the profile you choose, because corrugated sheets overlap at the sides.
  4. Add 5 to 10% for cutting and wastage.
  5. Add accessories: ridges, roofing nails or screws with washers, and gutters. These can add a big share to the total, so include them in the quote.

For example, a slope 3 m long and 9 m wide needs 3 m sheets. If the cover width is about 0.76 m, that is 12 sheets per slope, or 24 for a simple two-slope roof, plus a few spares. In gauge 30 at the listed price, 26 sheets of 3 m cost roughly KSh 34,000 before ridges, fixings and delivery.

Tips to save money on mabati

  • Order sheets cut to exact length to reduce waste.
  • Ask for a delivered price. Transport can make a cheap quote expensive.
  • Compare MRM’s shop price with two local distributors and ask about bulk discounts.
  • Pay only to a business paybill or till, and get a receipt with the gauge and length written on it.
