Where those documents disagree, we say so, so you know what to confirm with the registrar before you pay or travel.

About the College
Kerio Valley TVC opened in January 2021 and is the only TVET college in Marakwet East Constituency. It sits on a 92-acre piece of land near Chebilil Trading Centre, along the Eldoret to Kapsowar to Tot road. Its motto is “Technology for Self-Reliance”, and the brochure describes it as a centre of excellence in fashion design management. The principal is Mr Johnstone Lobillaghan, who also serves as secretary to the Board of Governors, and the registrar’s office handles admissions and examinations. The college runs under the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training, and the government posts trainers to it.
Older course pages on the website still say some departments started out with KNEC-examined diploma and craft courses, and the registrar’s page mentions KNEC and NITA trade tests. The current brochure lists TVET CDACC as the examining body for every graded course.
Course Levels and Entry Grades
- Level 6 (Diploma): two years. The website asks for KCSE C- (minus) or a craft (Level 5) certificate. A few brochure rows print plain C, so ask the registrar if you have exactly C-.
- Level 5 (Certificate): KCSE D plain or an artisan certificate. The brochure gives one year, while the website’s course table says two years, so confirm the duration for your course.
- Level 4 (Artisan): about six months, for KCSE D- and below or KCPE holders. Some department pages say one year.
- Level 3: about six months, open to KCPE holders.
- Short courses: computer packages (internal college exam) and driving school for NTSA classes B, C and C1, each about a month, with open entry.

Kerio Valley TVC Fees
The fee structure on the college website is headed “Fees schedule for academic year 2023 for regular courses” and sets the annual fee at KSh 67,189, paid over two terms.
| Vote head | Term I | Term II | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition | KSh 20,600 | KSh 10,489 | KSh 31,089 |
| Personal emoluments | KSh 9,750 | KSh 9,750 | KSh 19,500 |
| Electricity, water and conservancy | KSh 1,800 | KSh 2,000 | KSh 3,800 |
| Local travel and transport | KSh 2,000 | KSh 2,000 | KSh 4,000 |
| Repairs, maintenance and improvement | KSh 2,000 | KSh 2,000 | KSh 4,000 |
| Activity fees | KSh 2,400 | KSh 2,400 | KSh 4,800 |
| Total | KSh 38,550 | KSh 28,639 | KSh 67,189 |
New students also pay one-off charges of KSh 4,900: registration KSh 2,000, caution money KSh 1,000, student welfare KSh 900, student ID KSh 500 and TVETA fees KSh 500. The 2023 schedule says exam fees are not included and are paid with second-term fees.
That may change. On 6 March 2026, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced a consolidated TVET fee of KSh 67,189 a year, including assessment fees, to apply from May 2026, as reported by Radio Generation Kenya. The total is the same, but if exams are now included, a separate exam charge should no longer apply. Ask the college which version applies to your intake.
How government funding splits the fee
For government-sponsored trainees, the college’s fee document splits the KSh 67,189 like this:
| Trainee status | Government scholarship | HELB loan | Household pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vulnerable | 80% (KSh 53,751) | 20% | KSh 0 |
| Extremely needy | 70% (KSh 47,032) | 30% (KSh 20,157) | KSh 0 |
| Needy | 50% (KSh 33,594) | 30% (KSh 20,157) | 20% (KSh 13,438) |
| Less needy | 32% (KSh 21,500) | 48% (KSh 32,250) | 20% (KSh 13,438) |
The document prints the vulnerable loan share as KSh 13,348, but 20% of KSh 67,189 is about KSh 13,438, so that looks like a typo. These bands come from 2023. Your actual share depends on the band the Higher Education Financing portal gives you, so apply there as soon as you are placed. Our guide to TVET fees in Kenya explains how capitation, HELB and household payments fit together.
According to the fee document, you can pay at KCB Eldoret Main Branch, account 1280140976, or by M-Pesa Paybill 522123, quoting the account reference printed on the document with your admission number. Confirm these details with the college before sending money, and never pay into a personal number. Pocket money should not go into the college account.
How to Apply
Through KUCCPS
KCSE candidates can choose the college during the KUCCPS TVET placement cycle. Programme listings that reproduce KUCCPS data, such as CareerNext, use the code prefix 4360 for the college, for example 4360758 for the ICT diploma. Confirm the codes on the KUCCPS student portal when the application window opens. Once placed, follow our steps on how to check KUCCPS placement results and then apply for funding.
Direct application
You can also apply directly for the January, May or September intake. The website has an online application form where you pick a course and upload your national ID and academic documents. You can also download the application form, fill it in and email it to the college. The college’s student MIS application page returned a server error when we checked on 18 October 2026, so use the website form or email if that happens. Admission letters are generated on the college’s admissions page.
The application form asks for copies of your KCSE and KCPE certificates, ID or passport, birth and leaving certificates and any other relevant certificates. When you report, bring a medical certificate on the college’s form, a passport photo, a scientific calculator, writing materials and your original certificates, which are checked and handed back. You have 28 days from the start of your programme to apply for a change of course.
