Where Optica Has Shops

Nairobi has the most shops by far, with 46 listed. Outside Nairobi, Mombasa has 6 (including Nyali, Mtwapa and Diani), Kisumu has 4 and Eldoret has 3. Nakuru, Thika, Nyeri (including Karatina) and Nanyuki have two each, and there is one shop each in Bungoma, Embu, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Kitale, Kitengela, Machakos, Malindi, Meru, Murang’a, Naivasha, Narok, Ongata Rongai, Ruiru (Kamakis), Kenol and Thindigua on Kiambu Road.

Membership carries across branches. Optica’s FAQ confirms that if you registered in Nairobi and later move to another town, your free eye test applies at the branch there too.

Paying With Medical Insurance or SHA

Optica says it accepts insurance cards that include an optical benefit from most major insurers, and it keeps a list of supported providers on its Insurance page. The list changes, so Optica advises calling to confirm your scheme before you visit. Two limits matter:

• Insurance only works in the shop. Optica’s FAQ says it does not accept insurance on online orders.
• SHA: Optica has published a notice that SHA (Social Health Authority) cover is accepted at its Moi Avenue branch in Nairobi. Confirm with that branch what your SHA benefit covers before you choose frames.
