This is where most payment mistakes happen. ICEA LION does not use one paybill for everything. The company runs separate businesses for general insurance, life assurance and asset management, and each one collects money through its own number. If you pay into the wrong one, expect a delay before the money shows on your policy while the contact centre traces it.

How to pay an ICEA LION premium with M-Pesa
- Open M-Pesa and choose Lipa na M-Pesa, then Pay Bill.
- Enter the business number for your product from the table above.
- Enter your policy or member number as the account number, exactly as it appears on your policy document or statement.
- Enter the amount, then your M-Pesa PIN, and confirm.
- Keep the M-Pesa confirmation SMS. If the payment does not show on your account after a few days, send the message to the contact centre or WhatsApp line with your policy number.

What happens if you miss a premium
ICEA LION says a life policy that has run for more than three years may have built up enough value to stay in force for about three months without payments. A newer policy can be paused and restarted later. To restart, you either pay the missed premiums or push the policy’s end date forward. If it has been more than a year since your last payment, the company may ask for a medical check before it reactivates your cover.
The automatic policy loan
If a life policy goes three months or more without a premium, ICEA LION can use part of the policy’s value to keep it running. This works like a small loan against your own policy. It earns interest and has to be repaid if you want your full benefits back.

The Personal Retirement Scheme lets you contribute monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly, and ICEA LION states a guaranteed 4% annual interest on it.
