How Many Rolls Do You Need?
Wallpaper Kenya gives the standard roll size as 53cm by 9.5m, and Hauzisha uses about 0.5m by 10m. Either way, one roll covers roughly 5 square metres. To estimate:
- Measure the width and height of each wall in metres and multiply them for the area.
- Subtract large doors and windows.
- Divide by 5 and round up, then add one extra roll for pattern matching and mistakes.
Example: a feature wall 4m wide and 2.7m high is 10.8 square metres. That needs 3 rolls (10.8 ÷ 5 = 2.2, rounded up), plus 1 spare, so 4 rolls in total. At KSh 1,500 a roll plus KSh 800 a roll to install, that is about KSh 9,200.
Tips Before You Hire an Installer
- Ask for a written quote that says whether adhesive, wall preparation and transport are included.
- Buy all rolls from the same batch, so the colour matches.
- Fix damp walls first. Wallpaper will peel on walls with moisture problems.
- For kitchens, bathrooms and offices, choose washable vinyl.
- Pay a deposit only to a business with a verifiable showroom or office, and get a receipt.
