Construction is the biggest category on Kenya’s public tender portal. Counties, NG-CDF committees, roads agencies, water companies, schools and state corporations advertise works every week: roads and bridges, classrooms and dormitories, boreholes and water pipelines, renovations, fencing, street lights and more. The list below shows every open works tender, refreshed every morning. Filter it by county or closing date, or search for the type of work you do.

Who Advertises Construction Tenders
County governments publish more works tenders than any other type of public body, followed by NG-CDF committees, which fund classrooms, laboratories, dormitories and other school projects in every constituency. State corporations such as roads, water and energy agencies publish fewer but larger tenders. Use the county filter to see what is open near you, then search for words like “classroom”, “borehole”, “road” or “toilet” to narrow the list.

What You Need to Bid for Works
- National Construction Authority registration in the right category and class for the value of the work. NCA registration is a standard requirement for building and civil works tenders.
- Business registration documents, a CR12 for companies, a KRA PIN and a valid tax compliance certificate.
- Evidence of similar work done, key staff, equipment and, often, a bid security from a bank or insurer if the tender asks for one.
- For AGPO-reserved works, a valid AGPO certificate.
Read the tender document carefully. Works tenders often require a site visit or a pre-bid meeting, and missing it can disqualify your bid.
Tips for Winning Works Tenders
- Price every item in the bill of quantities. Arithmetic errors and blank items are a common reason for rejection.
- Check the closing date filter and leave time to get a bid security, which can take days.
- Watch for addenda that change the scope or deadline.
