Imarisha Sacco loan rates
Imarisha Sacco publishes these rates on its website (imarishasacco.co.ke), checked on 13 October 2026:
- BOSA / Premium / Education / Emergency loans (1% p.m.)
- FOSA long-term loans (14% p.a.)
- MSME loans (14% p.a. flat) – flat rate
The calculator is prefilled with these figures. SACCOs usually quote rates per month, so 1% a month equals 12% a year.
How to use the calculator
- Choose a loan product or keep the default rate.
- Enter the amount you want to borrow and the term in months.
- Check that the method (reducing balance or flat) matches your loan.
- Tap “Show repayment schedule” to see each month’s principal and interest.
Loan limits and guarantors
Unlike banks, SACCOs lend mainly against your deposits and your guarantors’ deposits. Ask the Sacco for its exact multiplier. Keep up regular monthly contributions, because the longer and more consistently you save, the more you can borrow.
Reducing balance vs flat rate
Most SACCO development and emergency loans charge interest on a reducing balance: each month you pay interest only on what you still owe. Some advances and mobile loans use a flat rate, where interest is charged on the original amount for the whole term. On a KES 100,000 loan over 12 months at 12%, reducing balance costs about KES 6,619 in interest, while flat rate costs KES 12,000. Use the method switch above to compare.
Tips to borrow wisely
- Borrow for productive needs, such as school fees, land, business stock or farm inputs.
- Keep the installment within about a third of your net income.
- Protect your guarantors by repaying on time.
- Keep a copy of the repayment schedule to check against your statements.
