DStv Kenya will move subscribers to four new packages priced between KSh750 and KSh7,300 a month from November 5, the pay-TV service said on Monday as it rolled out its “Expect More” relaunch.

In a post on its official X account at 10.30am, DStv Kenya listed the new line-up as “Starter at KES 750, to Select at KES 1,500, Sports at KES 3,000 and Ultimate at KES 7,300,” and said there was “more entertainment, more choice and more value at every level.”

Replying to subscribers later in the morning, the company’s customer care team confirmed the start date. “We have listened and as from next month on date 5/11/2026 we will be launching new packages with new prices,” one reply read.

The launch followed a one-word teaser, “Tumewaskiza” (“we have listened to you”), posted on the same account at 9.43am.

What each package carries

The 60-second launch video DStv Kenya published with the announcement sets out the channel count and positioning of each tier:

  • DStv Starter, KSh750: 116-plus channels, billed as “a taste of the very best.” Channel cards in the video include Novelas+, M-Net Legends, Disney Junior, Cartoon Network and Africa Magic.
  • DStv Select, KSh1,500: 149-plus channels, pitched “for the whole family,” with M-Net Stars, M-Net Movies, Nickelodeon and football among the listed content.
  • DStv Sports, KSh3,000: 159-plus channels, sold as “your VIP ticket to the big game.” Its card lists SuperSport Football Plus, SuperSport Premier League and SuperSport Action, along with Universal TV, Studio Universal, ESPN 2 and BBC Brit.
  • DStv Ultimate, KSh7,300: 180-plus channels, described as “the best all-in-one experience,” with M-Net, motorsport, rugby, Comedy Central, Discovery and Bravo on its card.

The video closes on the new “DStv Expect+” logo and the line “A new era of TV is here.”

A relaunch under Canal+

The new packages are the first concrete step in a rebrand that began three weeks ago. On October 6, DStv’s Kenyan site carried a notice from “MultiChoice Group, a Canal+ Company,” teasing the new era of DStv.

“DStv is being reinvented from the ground up with a new brand ethos, DStv Expect More,” the notice said. It promised “a brand-new suite of packages designed to be the most customer-centric offering yet” and said the new era “gives subscribers more choice, more value and more control than ever before.”

The notice was pitched at different kinds of viewers: “Whether you’re a movie buff or series addict, a sports fanatic who lives on the pitch, or someone with a big family who needs to keep everyone entertained, there will be a DStv tailor-made for you.” It ended with the line: “Get ready to experience a TV revolution.”

DStv Kenya has not published, on its official channels, how each current bouquet maps onto the new four, or what happens to customers who prepay beyond November 5. Its customer care replies on Monday told subscribers to “keep tabs for more updates on the same.”

Rest of the media market

The changes land as Kenya’s wider entertainment and media market shifts towards internet advertising and streaming, a trend PwC tracks in its outlook for Kenya’s media revenue.

By midday on Monday, the “Tumewaskiza” teaser had drawn more than 360 replies on X. DStv Kenya’s customer care team was answering subscribers’ questions with the four prices and the November 5 start date, and said more details would follow.
