Who can apply
According to the PSC advert, a candidate must:
- hold the degree or diploma specified for the profession, from a recognised institution;
- have graduated in 2020 or later;
- be proficient in computer skills; and
- not have benefited from a similar programme. Those who took part in the first cohort, covered in our report on the earlier housing intern deployment, should read this rule carefully.
Interns will document skills gained at Affordable Housing Programme and marketing project sites across the country, take part in mentorship, and receive a certificate on completion. The advert says the stipend will be paid “at a rate as determined by the Government” but does not give an amount.
How to apply before 9 November
- Go to the PSC job portal at psckjobs.go.ke (also linked from publicservice.go.ke) and create or update your profile with your ID number, academic certificates and contacts.
- Find the Affordable Housing Programme internship advert and choose the one profession that matches your qualification.
- Submit before the 9 November 2026 deadline. Late or offline applications are not mentioned in the advert, so apply online.
A step-by-step walkthrough of the portal and the shortlisting timeline is on JobInKenya’s Affordable Housing internship 2026 page. Beware of anyone asking for payment to secure a slot; PSC recruitment is free.
Why it matters
The programme pairs young built-environment professionals with the government’s housing projects, funded largely through the Affordable Housing Levy. For graduates in construction, design and property, it is one of the largest single intakes of the year.
