BAT Kenya pays a small interim in September and a much larger final in May or June. The 2025 total of KSh 70 was the highest in this period, driven by the KSh 60 final. The 2026 interim matched 2025’s KSh 10, double the KSh 5 interims of 2022 to 2024.
How to work out BAT Kenya’s dividend yield
Dividend yield = annual dividend per share Ă· share price Ă— 100. Using the 2025 total of KSh 70, the yield at a few example prices would be:
| Example share price | Yield on KSh 70 |
|---|---|
| KSh 450 | 15.6% |
| KSh 500 | 14.0% |
| KSh 550 | 12.7% |
| KSh 600 | 11.7% |

What to watch before relying on BAT Kenya dividends
A long record of payouts is reassuring, but dividends are paid out of profit and are never guaranteed. S&P Global’s data shows the trailing payout ratio slightly above 100% of earnings, which means the company has recently paid out roughly everything it earned, leaving little room if profits dip. Shareholders usually watch three things: the full-year results and final dividend announcement early in the year, changes to excise duty on cigarettes in each Finance Act, and the company’s own commentary on illicit trade and export markets. A cut in any of these areas can show up first in a smaller final dividend.
It also helps to compare the shilling amount you would receive with safer alternatives. If you hold shares mainly for income, check what the same money would earn in a Treasury bill or money market fund, and remember that share prices can fall even when the dividend holds steady. Spreading income across several companies and sectors, rather than relying on a single high payer, reduces the damage if one company trims its payout.
How to qualify and get paid
