Consistency: who keeps paying
- BAT Kenya has paid an interim and a final every year from 2022 to 2026. The total rose from KSh 50 for 2023 and 2024 to KSh 70 for 2025.
- Standard Chartered Kenya has paid twice a year throughout. Its total peaked at KSh 45 for 2024 before falling to KSh 31 for 2025.
- Equity Group pays once a year and has raised or held its dividend every year since 2022, from KSh 3.00 to KSh 5.75.
- I&M Group has raised its total every year since 2021 and added an interim from 2024.
- Safaricom pays twice a year; its FY2026 total of KSh 2.00 was above the KSh 1.20 paid for each of the two previous years.
- Stanbic Holdings has grown its final dividend from KSh 7.30 in 2022 to KSh 18.55 in 2026, after a peak of KSh 18.90 in 2025.
Dividend per share is not yield
A KSh 70 dividend sounds bigger than KSh 2, but BAT’s shares cost far more than Safaricom’s. To compare income, divide each annual dividend by the share price you would pay. Our dividend yield explainer shows how, along with the payout ratio, which tells you whether a company is paying out more than it earns. A dividend that eats all of a company’s profit is at risk of being cut.
