Quick answer: East African Breweries PLC (EABL) is paying a final dividend of KSh 8.70 per share for the year ended 30 June 2026, on or before 31 October 2026, to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 19 October 2026. Together with the KSh 4.00 interim dividend paid earlier in the year, the total for FY2026 is KSh 12.70 per share, up 59% from KSh 8.00 in FY2025 and the highest annual payout of the last five years.

The figures on this page come from EABL’s own results announcements for FY2023 to FY2026 and its AGM notices. Shareholders approved the FY2026 final dividend at the virtual AGM on 15 October 2026. This page is information, not financial advice.

EABL Dividend History, FY2022 to FY2026

EABL’s financial year ends on 30 June. It usually pays an interim dividend around April and a final dividend around late October.

Financial year (to 30 June) Interim (KSh) Final (KSh) Total (KSh) Change in total
FY2022 3.75 7.25 11.00 –
FY2023 3.75 1.75 5.50 -50%
FY2024 1.00 6.00 7.00 +27%
FY2025 2.50 5.50 8.00 +14%
FY2026 4.00 8.70 12.70 +59%

Source: EABL full-year results announcements (27 July 2023, 29 July 2024, FY2025 and 5 August 2026) and the 2025 AGM notice. The FY2024 interim figure is the KSh 7.00 total EABL reported for that year less the KSh 6.00 final.

The pattern is clear from the table: after the payout was halved in FY2023, it has risen every year since. EABL’s FY2024 statement shows the pressure it was under then, with profit after tax down 12% because of currency devaluation and a big rise in finance costs, even as sales grew 13% to KSh 124.1 billion. Over the five years, the total dividend has ranged from KSh 5.50 to KSh 12.70 a share.

Final Dividend Book Closure and Payment Dates

Dividend Register closes (book closure) Paid on or about
FY2023 final, KSh 1.75 15 September 2023 27 October 2023
FY2024 final, KSh 6.00 16 September 2024 28 October 2024
FY2025 interim, KSh 2.50 16 February 2025 28 April 2025
FY2025 final, KSh 5.50 16 September 2025 28 October 2025
FY2026 final, KSh 8.70 19 October 2026 On or before 31 October 2026

To receive a dividend, your shares must be on EABL’s register at the close of business on the book closure date. Because NSE trades take time to settle, you need to have bought before the share goes “ex-dividend”, which happens a short time before book closure. If you buy after that, the seller gets the dividend. The FY2026 final dividend’s book closure has now passed, so shares bought from here on will not earn the KSh 8.70. The next payment to watch for is the FY2027 interim, which EABL normally announces with its half-year results around late January. Our NSE dividend calendar tracks upcoming dates across listed companies.

What Is Behind the FY2026 Increase

EABL’s audited results for the year to 30 June 2026 show its strongest year in the period covered here:

Item FY2026 FY2025 Change
Net revenue KSh 146.0bn KSh 128.8bn +13%
Earnings before interest and tax KSh 32.1bn KSh 25.2bn +27%
Net finance costs KSh 4.4bn KSh 5.9bn -25%
Profit after tax KSh 18.2bn KSh 12.2bn +49%
Basic earnings per share KSh 18.99 KSh 11.97 +59%
Total dividend per share KSh 12.70 KSh 8.00 +59%
Dividend as a share of EPS About 67% About 67% Unchanged

The dividend grew at the same pace as earnings per share, so EABL kept paying out roughly two-thirds of its profit per share. The company also cut total debt by KSh 5.8 billion during the year, which lowered finance costs, and ended June 2026 with KSh 18.0 billion in cash. It paid out KSh 9.3 billion in dividends in cash during the year, against KSh 6.8 billion a year earlier.

One more thing shareholders should know: in December 2025 EABL was told of a proposed sale of Diageo Plc’s shareholding to Asahi Group Holdings. EABL’s FY2026 statement says regulators in Uganda and Tanzania and Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority have approved it, while the Competition Authority of Kenya’s review was still pending. The deal is between shareholders and EABL is not a party to it, but a change of controlling shareholder can affect future dividend policy, so watch the company’s announcements.

How Much You Receive After Tax

EABL pays dividends net of withholding tax. Kenya deducts 5% from dividends paid to residents and 15% for non-residents, unless a tax treaty sets a lower rate. Worked examples for the FY2026 final dividend of KSh 8.70:

Shares held Gross final dividend 5% tax (resident) Net received (resident)
100 KSh 870 KSh 43.50 KSh 826.50
500 KSh 4,350 KSh 217.50 KSh 4,132.50
1,000 KSh 8,700 KSh 435 KSh 8,265
5,000 KSh 43,500 KSh 2,175 KSh 41,325

For the full year (KSh 12.70 a share), 1,000 shares earn KSh 12,700 gross, or KSh 12,065 after 5% tax. You can run other amounts through our withholding tax calculator.

How EABL Compares

A rising dividend is only part of the picture. The yield you earn depends on the price you pay for the share, and that changes every trading day, so check the current NSE price before working out a yield.
