Victoria Wealth Management joins NSE: 4 services it can now offer investors

The Nairobi Securities Exchange has admitted Victoria Wealth Management Limited, a subsidiary of Victoria Commercial Bank PLC, as a trading participant. This gives investors one more licensed firm through which they can buy and sell NSE-listed shares and bonds. The NSE announced the admission in a press release on 6 November 2026, and People Daily and Business Today carried its details.

The Capital Markets Authority has licensed Victoria Wealth Management as an investment bank. The admission does not involve a share sale or listing by Victoria itself.

What a trading participant can do

According to the NSE, Victoria Wealth Management will:

  • buy and sell securities listed on the NSE and carry out clients’ investment orders;
  • provide investment advisory and portfolio management services within the scope of its licence;
  • advise issuers on equity and debt capital raising, public offers, restructuring and mergers and acquisitions;
  • arrange underwriting and issuance of securities, subject to regulatory approvals.

“Expanding our network of market intermediaries is central to our strategy of revitalising Kenya’s capital markets, deepening investor participation and making the market more accessible to a broader segment of the population,” NSE chief executive Frank Mwiti said. Victoria Wealth Management chief executive Sital Borkhataria said becoming a trading participant “broadens the investment solutions we can offer our clients.”

Why it matters now

The admission comes during a busy period on the bourse. In its weekly bulletin of 6 November 2026, the Central Bank of Kenya said the NASI rose 1.68% in the week to 5 November and market capitalisation also rose 1.68%. Equity turnover jumped 2,755.81%, mainly because of Nedbank’s KSh 107.3 billion purchase of NCBA shares. Quickmart’s shares are also due to start trading on 12 November after its oversubscribed IPO (see our Quickmart IPO results report).

Victoria Commercial Bank has long served small and medium businesses and wealthier private clients. A brokerage and investment banking arm gives those clients access to shares, bonds and capital raising from within the same group.

What investors should check

Before opening an account with any trading participant, confirm that the firm appears on the NSE and CMA lists of licensed intermediaries, ask for its commission and custody charges in writing, and make sure your shares are held in a CDS account in your own name. Our guide on how to buy shares on the NSE walks through the CDS account, broker choice and fees. Bank customers who want loan figures can use our Victoria Bank loan calculator.
