Updated 7 November 2026
Kenya Power tenders are advertised on the company’s Tender Notices page and handled through its SAP-based e-procurement portal. To take part, a business first self-registers as a supplier on the portal, waits for Kenya Power’s approval and login credentials by email, answers any vendor qualification questionnaire, and then responds to tenders (called RFx) online. Kenya Power also runs periodic supplier registration exercises, for up to two years at a time, to build lists of firms it invites for quotations and restricted tenders.
Checked on 7 November 2026 against Kenya Power’s Tender Notices page, its Supplier Registration quick reference guide, its SRM user guide for vendor registration and RFx, and the February 2026 supplier registration document (RFx 3800000460).

How Kenya Power tenders work
Kenya Power PLC buys goods, works and services ranging from transformers and spares to guarding, transport and catering. Its Tender Notices page splits notices into open tenders, limited tenders, supplier registration and cancellations. Recent notices on the page, dated 27 October to 4 November 2026, include a tender advert for a three-year framework, monopoles and guarding services; a limited tender for industrial gas; a restricted tender for genset overhaul spares for off-grid power stations; and a notice of intention to procure milk in the North Eastern region.
There are two routes in:
- Open tenders, advertised publicly. Any eligible bidder can respond on the e-procurement portal.
- Registered supplier lists. Kenya Power’s registration document defines supplier registration as building a list of prospective providers in a category for a period not exceeding two years, so they can be invited on a rotational basis for requests for quotations or restricted tenders. It warns that registration is not a guarantee of any award, order or tender.
How to register for Kenya Power tenders on the supplier portal
Kenya Power’s quick reference guide sets out the self-registration flow for new suppliers:
- Open the self-registration link published in the guide:
https://e-stima.kplc.co.ke:8210/supplierregistration. You can also reach it from the Supplier Registration link on Kenya Power’s website. - Fill in the registration form with company and contact details. Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk.
- Add your product categories, choosing the goods, works or services you supply.
- Read and accept the data privacy statement and submit.
- Wait for approval. Kenya Power emails the URL and user credentials once your registration is approved.
- Log in and set your own user ID and password, then update company data. Changes to company data are sent to Kenya Power for approval.
- Answer the vendor qualification questionnaire if you receive one by email, uploading any documents requested.
Existing vendors receive two emails, one with a user ID and URL and another with a password, and then follow the same steps to update their details. The guide lists the support desk at sapsrmhd@kplc.co.ke and +254 20 320 1332 or +254 20 320 1344.
Kenya Power tenders: supplier registration checklist
For its February 2026 registration exercise (Mt Kenya region, reference KP5/9A/3/3/03/25-26), Kenya Power’s submission checklist asked for:
- a company profile;
- a duly filled and signed letter of application;
- a declaration form;
- a copy of the KRA PIN certificate;
- a valid tax compliance certificate;
- the company or firm registration certificate;
- a valid AGPO certificate, where applicable, and a CR12 where applicable;
- a confidential business questionnaire;
- copies of the IDs or passports of all directors or partners;
- references from previous customers, with two LPOs or completion certificates from Kenya Power or at least two other public entities, relevant to the category;
- audited financial statements reported within 18 months of the registration document, or six months of bank-certified statements for firms registered within the last year;
- contractor registration certificates for the relevant category, where needed.
The document adds that bidders with a history of default, or with unserved Kenya Power orders for four months or more not attributable to Kenya Power, will not be considered unless they are within the delivery schedule. Each exercise has its own document, so download the current one for your category before you prepare for Kenya Power tenders in that area.
Youth, women and persons with disabilities should get their AGPO certificate first; our AGPO registration guide explains how.
Where to find Kenya Power tenders
- Tender Notices page on kplc.co.ke, with open tenders, limited tenders, supplier registration and cancellations.
- The e-procurement portal, where the documents and closing dates are published. Kenya Power tells suppliers to check the portal regularly for revised closing dates.
- Our daily roundup of tenders in Kenya today, which covers public entities beyond Kenya Power.
How to respond to a Kenya Power tender
Kenya Power’s SRM user guide covers the bidding steps: log in to the supplier portal, open the RFx, choose to participate, create a response, and attach notes and documents before submitting. Registration documents and bids are submitted electronically on the portal on or before the closing date and time shown there. Once you win work, the same portal is used for purchase-order collaboration, advance shipping notices and invoices.
Practical tips for Kenya Power tenders:
- Register well before a closing date, since approval is not instant.
- Keep your tax compliance certificate valid; it expires.
- Match your references to the category you are applying for.
- Submit early to avoid last-minute portal problems.
- Read every addendum and the cancellation notices, because Kenya Power tenders are sometimes cancelled or re-advertised.
Common mistakes on Kenya Power tenders
- Choosing too many unrelated categories with no references for them.
- Submitting audited accounts older than the 18-month window.
- Uploading unsigned forms or missing director IDs.
- Paying anyone who promises to “fix” a Kenya Power tender. Registration and bidding are done on the official portal.
- Assuming registration means guaranteed work. Kenya Power states plainly that it does not.
