Knowing your M-Shwari savings, loan balance and recent transactions takes a few taps on the M-Pesa menu.

Check your balance

  1. Open M-Pesa on your SIM toolkit, or dial *334#.
  2. Go to Loans and Savings, M-Shwari.
  3. Choose Check Balance and enter your PIN.

The SMS shows your savings balance and, if you have one, the loan you owe.

Get a mini statement

Under M-Shwari, choose the mini statement option and enter your PIN. You will get a short list of recent transactions by SMS.

Lock Savings

For Lock Savings, go to M-Shwari, Lock Savings. A balance inquiry or mini statement on Lock Savings costs KSh 1 each.

Why it matters

When you take an M-Shwari loan, savings equal to the loan plus fee are frozen until you repay. Checking your balance shows how much you can actually use.
