Credit Reference Bureaus hold loan repayment data used by banks, Saccos and mobile lenders. Checking your file helps you spot errors before a job or loan application.

How to check

  1. Identify which bureau your lenders use (several are licensed by the Central Bank).
  2. Use the bureau’s official consumer portal or USSD/app listed on its website.
  3. Verify your identity with ID and contacts.
  4. Download or view your credit report.
  5. Dispute wrong listings through the bureau’s dispute process and with the lender.

HELB defaults can appear on CRB. See HELB repayment and CRB. Clear debts before sensitive job vetting; openings are on jobinkenya.co.ke.
