NCPB publishes its main line on its eCitizen page. The depot numbers above are the regional lines NCPB has published for its depots. They are fixed lines that can be slow to answer, so if one does not go through, call the head office on 020 6536028 and ask for the depot manager. NCPB runs more stores and silos than the list above, so ask the head office for the depot that serves your sub-county before you travel with produce.

How to find the NCPB depot near you

  1. Start with your county: subsidised fertiliser is sold at the NCPB depots within the county where you are registered, so look for your county in the table.
  2. Call before travelling: stock levels change, especially during planting season. Confirm that the depot has the fertiliser or service you need.
  3. Ask your ward agricultural officer: they know which depot serves your area and whether your name is on the register.

Buying subsidised fertiliser at NCPB

According to NCPB’s own guidance for farmers:

  • You must go in person to the nearest NCPB depot with your original national ID, and your name must be on the farmers’ register.
  • You buy from a depot in the county where you are registered.
  • Payment is made after the depot manager approves your purchase, either by M-Pesa to the NCPB till number displayed at the depot or by deposit into the bank account the depot manager gives you.
  • Farmer cooperatives and organisations pay from their own bank account directly into the NCPB account.
  • Cash is not accepted at depots.

Never pay anyone outside the depot who promises to “reserve” fertiliser for you. Only pay to the till number displayed at the depot itself. If you are paying from M-Pesa, you can check the transaction cost first with our M-Pesa charges calculator.

Other NCPB services

  • Grain buying and selling: NCPB buys maize, wheat and other grains for the Strategic Food Reserve and sells grain to millers, institutions and traders.
  • Warehousing and drying: farmers and traders can store and dry grain at NCPB stores for a fee.
  • Warehouse Receipt System: certified storage where you get a receipt you can trade or borrow against.
  • Supplies to institutions: grain for schools, prisons and other government agencies.

If you plan to borrow to buy inputs or expand your farm, compare costs with our Sacco loan calculators before you sign.
