Bandari DT Sacco, the Mombasa Sacco with roots in the port, paid 18% on share capital and 12.5% interest on deposits in its latest payout. Its chairman gave those figures in September 2026, when he spoke about the Sacco’s expansion into Lamu. The calculator below is set to the 12.5% deposit rate.

Rates are what was last published, gross of tax. Money market funds are compounded monthly; bills, bonds, deposits and SACCO returns are worked out as simple interest. Your actual return will differ.

Bandari’s History

Bandari started among employees of the East African Harbours and Railways Corporation. It took its current name in 1985, when its parent employer became the Kenya Ports Authority, and opened membership to the general public in 2005. It now has branches in Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu and Lamu, and a branch in Eldoret has been announced. The Lamu branch was opened to bring fishermen and small traders in the region into the Sacco.
