DTB loan and credit facility fees

  • Term loans, hire purchase, mortgages and leases: appraisal fee of 2% at appraisal, then 1% on every anniversary.
  • Overdrafts: commitment fee of 2% a year.
  • DTB Weza (digital loan): facilitation fee of 7% on appraisal and a 7% roll-over fee on the outstanding amount.
  • DTB Inua: application fee of 7%.
  • Interest on most facilities is at the bank’s prevailing rate; see our DTB loan interest rates guide and the DTB loan calculator.

Worked examples

  • Four DTB ATM withdrawals and five KSh 3,000 transfers to M-Pesa in a month: KSh 120 + KSh 175 = KSh 295 before tax.
  • A KSh 10,000 cash need: DTB ATM KSh 30 vs counter KSh 300 vs another bank’s ATM KSh 200.
  • A KSh 1 million term loan: KSh 20,000 appraisal fee upfront, then KSh 10,000 a year on each anniversary.

How to pay less at DTB

  1. Move money to other banks by PesaLink (KSh 20) instead of EFT at the branch (KSh 500).
  2. Use DTB or Kenswitch ATMs rather than other banks’ machines.
  3. Keep enough balance for standing orders; each failed one costs KSh 2,400.
  4. If you are on Titan or Elite, check you use the benefits; otherwise the KSh 750 to KSh 2,000 monthly fee is pure cost.
