Free Nairobi-based website check helps Kenyan businesses get ready for festive-season shoppers

Ananke Digital free website check page, which tests a Kenyan business homepage for speed, Google basics and WhatsApp readiness

NAIROBI, 26 October 2026 — Ananke Digital has made its free website check available to Kenyan businesses that want to know, before the December shopping season, whether their website is fast, readable by Google and easy for customers to reach on WhatsApp.

The tool, at anankedigital.co.ke/websites/check/, tests a business’s homepage from a server in Nairobi, the way a customer’s phone would, and returns a “till slip” in about 20 seconds. It covers three areas:

  • Speed: how long the server takes to send the first byte, how long the page takes to download, how heavy it is, how many scripts it loads and whether it uses HTTPS.
  • Google basics: page title, meta description, sitemap, robots.txt, noindex tags, structured data (schema) and a main heading.
  • WhatsApp-readiness: a tap-to-WhatsApp link, a visible Kenyan number, tap-to-call, a mobile viewport, and whether the site says how to pay by M-Pesa.

The check is free and needs no sign-up. Ananke Digital describes it as a light check of the homepage rather than a full audit, and notes that it is not Google’s own PageSpeed score. Businesses that want the fixes explained can optionally leave a contact under the result.

Ahead of the festive season, many shoppers search for a shop, restaurant or service on their phone and then message or call. Problems such as a slow homepage, a missing WhatsApp link or a page Google cannot read properly are easy to miss from the owner’s own laptop, and the check is meant to surface them in one pass.

The website check sits alongside Ananke Digital’s free marketing calculators at anankedigital.co.ke/tools/ and its website-building service at anankedigital.co.ke/websites/.

How a business owner can use the check

The check looks only at the homepage address that is entered, so an owner with separate pages for a menu, a price list or a shop should run those addresses one at a time. Because the test runs from Nairobi, the speed results reflect what a local customer on a phone is likely to see, rather than what the owner sees on office Wi-Fi or on a laptop that has already stored the page.

The three sections of the till slip point to different kinds of fixes. Speed problems usually sit with the hosting, large images or too many add-on scripts. Missing Google basics, such as a page title, a meta description or a sitemap, are normally settings inside the website builder. WhatsApp and tap-to-call gaps are often the quickest to close, since they mean adding a clickable link and a visible Kenyan number where customers can find them, along with clear M-Pesa payment instructions.

Running the check again after changes shows whether a fix has worked, which is useful for any business that wants its site in order before December traffic picks up.
