For independent dealers with no number listed, call the Nairobi sales line and ask to be connected, or visit in person.

Which dealer should you use?

If you are buying a new Nissan, start with the Nairobi sales branch at Sameer Business Park or the Mombasa and Kisumu showrooms, because these are the outlets Crown Motors runs directly. They can give you official prices, warranty terms and finance options for current models, and arrange a test drive. Nissan Kenya’s website also has online forms to book a test drive, request a quote and book a service.

For servicing, the right choice depends on what you drive. A new Nissan still under warranty should be serviced where the warranty terms say, usually Crown Motors or an approved dealer, so that you keep the cover. An older imported Nissan such as a Note, X-Trail, Navara or NV350 can be serviced at any of the independent dealers above, which are listed by Nissan Kenya and so are more likely to stock genuine parts than an unknown roadside garage.

Buying a used or imported Nissan

Many Nissans on Kenyan roads were imported second hand from Japan rather than bought new locally. If you are considering one, work out the full landed cost first. Our guides on car import duty rates in Kenya and import taxes on popular Japanese models explain how KRA calculates duty, excise and VAT.

Before paying for any used car, confirm the logbook details and the registered owner on NTSA. Our step by step guide on checking a vehicle owner on NTSA TIMS shows how, and if the car needs new plates, see how to apply for new number plates on NTSA.

Tips before you visit a Nissan dealer

  • Call ahead. Independent dealers often specialise in service and parts, and stock of new vehicles is usually held in Nairobi.
  • Ask for a written quote that shows the vehicle price, registration costs and any accessories separately, all in KSh.
  • For servicing, ask whether parts are genuine Nissan parts and keep the receipts, especially if your car is under warranty.
  • Pay into the company’s official bank account or till, and get an official receipt. Be wary of anyone asking you to pay into a personal number.
