SHA Contacts 2026: Customer Care Number, USSD Code, Emails and County Offices

The Social Health Authority (SHA) toll-free customer care number is 0800 720 601, and its USSD code is *147#. For written help, email customerservice@sha.go.ke for enquiries, complaints@sha.go.ke for complaints and fraud@sha.go.ke to report fraud. SHA’s head office is at SHA Building, Community Area, Ragati Road, Upper Hill, Nairobi, and it runs an office in every one of Kenya’s 47 counties.

SHA replaced the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) and runs the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), the Primary Healthcare Fund and the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund. Which SHA Contact Should You Use?

Registration, login and account problems

Premiums and deductions

Adding a spouse, child or newborn

Email customerservice@sha.go.ke or visit your county office with the dependant’s birth certificate or ID. See our step-by-step guide to adding dependants to SHA.

A hospital refused SHA cover or asked you to pay

Write to complaints@sha.go.ke. Give the facility’s name, the date, your ID number, what you were told and any receipt. First check the facility is contracted, using our list of SHA accredited hospitals by county.

Suspected fraud

Send details to fraud@sha.go.ke. This covers facilities billing for services you never got, people charging you to register, and anyone asking for your SHA PIN or one-time code.

Tips for Getting a Faster Answer

1. Put your ID number in the email subject line along with a short description, such as “ID 12345678: dependant not showing”.
2. Attach evidence. Screenshots of the error, M-Pesa confirmation messages and payslips showing deductions all help.
3. Use one channel at a time. Sending the same complaint to every address at once makes it harder to follow up on one reference.
4. Go to the county office for anything that needs documents checked, such as correcting your name or date of birth.
5. Never pay anyone to register you. Registration with SHA is done through official channels, and anyone charging a fee for it should be reported.
