How to Check Your M-Pesa Mini Statement

How to Check Your M-Pesa Mini Statement

Updated 18 October 2026

The M-Pesa mini statement is the fastest way to see your last few transactions. It is useful when you want to confirm that a payment went through, find a transaction code for a dispute, or check whether money someone claims to have sent has actually arrived. It is free and takes seconds. This guide explains every way to check it, what it shows and when you need something more detailed.

What the Mini Statement Shows

A mini statement lists your most recent transactions, each with its transaction code, the date and time, the other party, the amount and whether money came in or went out. It covers only a handful of entries, so it is a quick snapshot, not a full history. For anything longer you need a full statement.

Method 1: The M-Pesa App

  1. Open the M-Pesa app and log in with your PIN or fingerprint.
  2. Your recent transactions appear on the home screen.
  3. Tap See All to scroll further back.
  4. Tap any entry to see its full details, including the transaction code and the charge you paid.

The app is the most detailed option because you can search, scroll back months and open each transaction individually.

Method 2: *334#

  1. Dial *334#.
  2. Select My Account.
  3. Choose the mini statement option.
  4. Enter your M-Pesa PIN.
  5. An SMS arrives listing your most recent transactions.

Method 3: The SIM Toolkit Menu

  1. Open the Safaricom or SIM Toolkit menu on your phone.
  2. Select M-Pesa, then My Account.
  3. Choose the mini statement and enter your PIN.

This works on basic phones that do not run the app.

Cost

Safaricom does not charge for services under My Account, including the mini statement and balance checks.

Practical Uses

Confirming a Payment

If a shopkeeper or landlord says your payment has not arrived, the mini statement shows the transaction code and recipient. Share the code so they can search their own records.

Spotting the Fake Reversal Scam

A common scam involves an SMS that looks like an M-Pesa message saying someone sent you money, followed by a call begging you to send it back. Always check your mini statement or balance before sending anything. If the money is not on your statement, it never arrived. Learn more in our guide to reversing M-Pesa transactions.

Finding a Code for a Reversal

If you sent money to the wrong number, you need the transaction code to request a reversal. The mini statement gives it to you quickly.

Tracking Charges

Opening transactions on the app shows the fee you paid. If the charges look high, compare them with our guide to M-Pesa sending charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the M-Pesa mini statement free?

Yes. Services under My Account are free.

How many transactions does it show?

Only the most recent handful. Use the app or a full statement for more.

Why did I not receive the SMS?

Check that you entered the correct PIN and that your phone has space for new messages. Try again, or use the app.

Can I use the mini statement as proof for a lender?

Lenders usually want the full stamped statement, which you can request free on *334# or the app.

Can I check my balance at the same time?

Yes. The app shows your balance on the home screen, and *334# has a separate Check Balance option. See our guide to M-Pesa versus Airtel Money if you use both services.

Keeping Your Transaction Records Safe

M-Pesa confirmation messages are useful evidence if a payment is ever disputed, so avoid deleting them in bulk. If your phone is lost, your history is not lost with it, because you can still request statements on a new phone after replacing your SIM. Never share screenshots of your statement on social media, as they show names, numbers and balances that fraudsters can use to make convincing scam calls. If someone you do not know asks for your mini statement or a transaction code, treat it as a warning sign.

Business owners who receive many small payments should check the full statement weekly instead of relying on the mini statement, so missed or duplicate payments are spotted early.
