The NSE does not publish a USSD code for investors. Any SMS or WhatsApp number claiming to be an “NSE agent” that offers to buy shares for you should be treated as a scam: the exchange does not trade for the public.

What the NSE Can and Cannot Help You With

The NSE runs the market. It lists companies, operates the trading system and publishes prices and announcements. It does not hold your shares or your money, and it cannot buy or sell for you. Knowing who does what saves a lot of wasted calls.

Your problem Who to contact
Opening a share account, placing an order, fees on your contract note Your stockbroker or investment bank (an NSE trading participant)
Shares missing from your CDS account, CDS statement, transfer to heirs Your broker as Central Depository Agent, or the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC)
Dividend not paid, change of bank details, unclaimed dividends The company’s share registrar, named in its dividend notice
Complaint about a licensed broker that is not resolved The Capital Markets Authority (CMA)
Listing a company, market data, NSE training, NSE’s own AGM and shares The NSE

The full list of licensed trading participants, with their addresses, phone numbers and emails, is on the NSE site under Market participants, then Trading Participants. Our guide on how to buy shares on the NSE lists several of them with contacts.

Where to Find NSE Corporate Announcements

Listed companies must release announcements within 24 hours under the NSE Listing Manual, and the exchange forwards the full text to brokers. You can read them yourself in these sections of nse.co.ke:

  • Listed Company Announcements: results, information memoranda and other filings, sorted by year from 2015. On October 26, 2026 the latest items included the Dangote Kenya GDR information memorandum for its initial public offering, Safaricom’s audited results for the year to March 31, 2026, and the NSE’s own unaudited results for the six months to June 30, 2026.
  • Corporate Actions: dividends, bonus issues, rights issues and book closure dates.
  • Financial Results: half-year and full-year results of listed companies.
  • NSE Investor Calendar: upcoming AGMs, results dates and investor briefings, listed by company. On October 26, 2026 it included Kenya Airways, KenGen, KPLC, Safaricom, Equity Group, EABL and many more.
  • Circulars and Press Releases: market notices, new rules and NSE news.

For the dividend side, our NSE dividend calendar pulls book closure and payment dates into one table, and company pages such as KenGen dividend history track each payer’s history.

How to Read an Announcement Before You Trade

  1. Check the date and the exact company name, since several groups have similar names.
  2. For results, compare earnings per share and the dividend per share with the previous year.
  3. For a dividend, note the book closure date. Trades settle three working days after they happen, so you must buy before the ex-date to be on the register.
  4. For an IPO or rights issue, read the information memorandum for the offer period, price and minimum application. Our guide to buying IPO shares in Kenya explains allotment and refunds.
  5. If an announcement arrives during market hours, the NSE halts that share for the rest of the day, and the next day it can move more than the usual 10%.

Other Useful NSE Services

  • Share prices: the Share Price page shows prices for listed equities. Real-time and historical data are sold through NSE Data Services under a published price list.
  • Mobile and online trading: a page linking to the trading apps and online platforms of licensed brokers, including Dyer and Blair, AIB-AXYS Africa, Sterling Capital, Faida Investment Bank, NCBA, Genghis Capital and EFG Hermes.
  • Public education: an NSE Training Calendar for 2026, a Digital Academy and a Virtual Trader game for practice without real money.
  • M-Akiba: information on the government’s mobile retail bond.
  • Ibuka: the NSE’s incubation and acceleration programme for companies preparing to list.
  • Careers and tenders: NSE job openings and procurement notices. For finance jobs more broadly, browse JobinKenya.

Contacting the NSE as a Business

Companies that want to raise money through shares, bonds, REITs or ETFs can read the listing requirements for each market segment on the NSE site, including the SME Market Segment for smaller firms. Companies on the SME Market Segment work with a nominated adviser, and the NSE publishes its list of nominated advisers. If your business is preparing to list and needs investor-facing communication or a website, Ananke Digital can help.
