Updated 18 October 2026
Stima DT Sacco paid its members a 16% dividend on share capital and an 11% interest rebate on deposits for the 2024 financial year, a payout of about KSh 4.6 billion. Delegates approved the same rates again for 2025. This guide sets out the rates for recent years, how Stima works out each member’s payout, and how and when the money is paid.
Stima Sacco Dividend and Rebate Rates
| Financial year | Dividend on share capital | Interest rebate on deposits | Total payout | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 16% | 11% | About KSh 5.11bn (KSh 788.7m dividends plus KSh 4.32bn rebates) | Stima Sacco, 52nd AGM, 2026 |
| 2024 | 16% | 11% | KSh 4.6bn | The Star, 28 February 2025 |
| 2023 | 15% | 11% | KSh 4.06bn | Stima AGM, 23 March 2024 |
For 2023, the Sacco said the total of KSh 4.06 billion compared with KSh 3.56 billion for 2022. For 2024, the Star reported that consolidated deposits grew 8%, from KSh 43.13 billion to KSh 46.69 billion. For 2025, Stima said delegates adopted the financial statements and approved KSh 788,713,665 in dividends and KSh 4,321,665,655 in interest rebates.
Dividends vs Interest Rebates
Stima’s own FAQ separates the two:
- Dividends are paid on your share capital, the ownership shares you hold in the Sacco. Stima encourages members with less than KSh 25,000 in share capital to top up to the required level, but all members earn dividends whatever their share capital status.
- Interest rebates are paid on your Alpha Deposits, the savings that act as the multiplier when you apply for a loan.
Because most members hold far more in deposits than in shares, the rebate is usually the bigger part of the payout. That is why the 2025 rebates of KSh 4.32 billion dwarf the KSh 788.7 million paid in dividends.

How Your Payout Is Calculated
Stima calculates dividends and rebates on a prorated basis using the weighted average balances of your shares and deposits during the financial year, then applies the approved rate. Money added late in the year therefore earns less than money held all year.
A simple example at the 2025 rates, assuming balances were held all year:
| Item | Average balance | Rate | Gross return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Share capital | KSh 25,000 | 16% | KSh 4,000 |
| Alpha Deposits | KSh 300,000 | 11% | KSh 33,000 |
| Total gross | KSh 37,000 |
The net amount you receive is lower. Stima says net dividends are what is left after taxes, processing fees, any capitalised amounts and Risk Fund contributions. The Risk Fund is KSh 125 a month, deducted as KSh 1,500 for 2025, and it pays twice a member’s deposits to nominated beneficiaries if the member dies. When and How Stima Pays
- Returns are paid after the Annual Delegates Meeting endorses the proposed rates.
- Net payouts above KSh 1,000 go to your Prime account, unless you asked for them to be capitalised.
- Net amounts below KSh 1,000 are automatically capitalised into your shares or deposits.
- If you have defaulted loans or arrears, the payout is used to clear them first.
- You get an SMS with the details, and the dividend slip is available on Stima’s digital channels and at branches.
Withdrawing your dividends
Once the money is in the Prime account, you can move it to M-Pesa through M-Pawa (*489#), M-Stima (*492#) or the M-Stima app. You can also withdraw over the counter at a branch, with a Saccolink ATM card, at a Stima Mlangoni agent, or by EFT, RTGS or PesaLink to a bank. Money left in the Prime account keeps earning interest there.
Dividend discounting
Members who need cash before the AGM can take a dividend advance. It is based on the previous year’s payout and secured against the expected dividends.
Why Your Dividend Might Be Missing
Stima lists the common reasons: the money was recovered for loan arrears, it was capitalised on your earlier instructions, it was below the KSh 1,000 threshold, or your Prime account is dormant. A Prime account becomes dormant after six months without a member-initiated transaction. To reactivate it, visit a branch with your original ID.
