Updated 25 October 2026

Kenya’s roofing sheet market is led by a handful of large steel mills and a growing number of smaller roll-forming factories. The best known names are Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM), Maisha Mabati Mills, Corrugated Sheets Limited (the Nyumba brand), Royal Mabati Factory, Mabati Yetu and the Blue Nile Group’s Kifaru Mabati. This guide explains who each manufacturer is, where they are based, what they make and how to contact them, using each company’s own published information. It is a directory, not a ranking: we have not tested the sheets, so use it to shortlist suppliers and then compare written quotes.

1. Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM)

MRM is part of the Safal Group, which runs steel roofing businesses across East, Central and Southern Africa. Safal describes MRM as the producer of the highest quality metal and colour coated coils in East Africa, with the widest selection of roofing and building products in Kenya. Its plant is at Mariakani on the Mombasa to Nairobi highway, and its products are sold through MRM outlets and appointed distributors around the country.

MRM’s best known sheet is Dumuzas, a steel core with an aluminium-zinc (ZINCAL) coat and a thin organic top layer. The painted version is called DumuRangi. MRM’s own online shop lists Dumuzas by the metre, and we break those prices down by sheet length in our guide to Dumuzas mabati types and prices. MRM’s customer line on its website is 0788 202 020.

2. Maisha Mabati Mills

Maisha Mabati Mills is the roofing arm of the Devki Group, the steel and cement conglomerate chaired by industrialist Narendra Raval. It was set up in 2009 at Ruiru to supply affordable roofing, and the company says its galvanised and colour steel sheets carry the KEBS Diamond Mark of Quality. Its range includes the Maisha Colour Box Profile, Maisha Tile, Maisha Premium Tile, Maisha Roman Tile, a colour 11/3 corrugated profile and an Alu-Zinc 11/3 sheet.

The head office is on Kamiti Road, Ruiru (P.O. Box 33319-00600 Nairobi). The company lists its Safaricom sales line as 0709 110 000, an Airtel line of 0756 020 000 and the email sales@maishamabati.com. Its sister company Devki Steel Mills is also based in Ruiru, and our story on Devki Steel’s iron ore licence application in Taita Taveta covers the group’s plans to mine its own raw material.

3. Corrugated Sheets Limited (Nyumba)

Corrugated Sheets Limited (CSL) is one of the oldest steel houses in the region. It grew out of Venus Metal (Africa) Limited and was incorporated in 1972. Under the Nyumba brand it makes galvanised and pre-painted roofing sheets and accessories such as ridges, along with hollow sections, tubes, wire products, plates and bitumen products. The company says it has an annual capacity of over 300,000 metric tonnes and exports Nyumba products to neighbouring countries.

CSL’s head office is at H. K. Plaza, Mikindani, on the Mombasa to Nairobi road (P.O. Box 83594-80100 Mombasa), with manufacturing in Mombasa and Kilifi counties. Its published phone numbers are 0722 204 848, 0727 605 899 and 0733 615 465, and the email is csl@nyumba.com. Its current roofing lines include Nyumba Almasi (aluminium-zinc coated) and Nyumba Colourcot (pre-painted).

4. Royal Mabati Factory

Royal Mabati is a roll-forming manufacturer that buys coated steel coil and turns it into finished roofing. It is known for heavy marketing and a direct-to-customer model, and says it has approved installers and depots in all 47 counties. Its range covers tile-effect profiles such as Royal Zee Tile and Royal Bricktile, box profiles, corrugated sheets, alloy zinc sheets and stone-coated roofing.

Royal Mabati publishes prices on its website. At the time of writing it listed Royal AlloyZinc Box and Corrugated (non-coloured) at KSh 323, Royal Box Profile from KSh 328, and Royal Zee Tile and Royal Bricktile from KSh 491, priced per unit as shown on the site. Check what unit and gauge each price refers to before you compare it with another supplier.

5. Mabati Yetu Factory

Mabati Yetu runs a factory and showroom in Embakasi, Nairobi, near Naivas Supermarket, and sells roofing, fencing and PVC rainwater gutters directly. It says it roll-forms sheets to order from 1 metre up to 10 metres to cut site waste and delivers to sites anywhere in Kenya within 2 to 4 business days. Its published 2026 price guide gives per-metre ranges of about KSh 380 to KSh 520 for ordinary corrugated sheets (gauge 30 or 32), KSh 520 to KSh 780 for box profile and KSh 680 to KSh 890 for Euro and Roman tile profiles. The helpline is 0700 667 667 and the email is info@mabatiyetu.co.ke.

6. Blue Nile Group (Kifaru Steel)

The Blue Nile Group is a Thika-based steel manufacturer founded in 1997. Its companies include Bluenile Wire Products, which makes steel wire products and sheets, and Bluenile Rolling Mills, which makes reinforcement steel. Its roofing is sold under the Kifaru Mabati name, alongside galvanised wire used for binding and fencing. The group lists info@bluenile-group.com and 0722 816 044 as contacts.

How to choose a roofing manufacturer

  1. Check the KEBS mark. Genuine sheets from established mills carry the Kenya Bureau of Standards mark and a printed gauge. Ask to see it before you pay.
  2. Compare the same gauge and coating. A lower gauge number means thicker steel. Gauge 30 is stronger than gauge 32, and an aluminium-zinc coating resists rust better than plain galvanising, which matters at the Coast and around Lake Victoria.
  3. Ask for the price per metre and the price per sheet. Manufacturers quote in different units, so convert everything to cost per metre at the same gauge.
  4. Ask about cut-to-length. Most factories cut sheets to your exact rafter length, which saves overlaps and offcuts.
  5. Get delivery and accessories in writing. Ridges, valleys, flashings, screws and transport can add a lot to the final bill.
  6. Beware of look-alike brands. Some roadside sellers use names close to well-known brands for thinner, unbranded sheets.

Roofing is only one part of the bill. Our report on rising building costs in Kenya shows how steel and other material prices have moved. If you are looking for work in construction or manufacturing, browse current openings on JobinKenya.
