Yetu DT Sacco, a Meru-based Sacco that has grown quickly over the last few years, paid 19% on share capital and 13% on deposits for 2025. That ties it with Tower for the highest deposit rate among large Saccos that had announced results by March 2026. The calculator below shows what 13% would earn on your own deposits.

Rates are what was last published, gross of tax. Money market funds are compounded monthly; bills, bonds, deposits and SACCO returns are worked out as simple interest. Your actual return will differ.

The Growth Story

At the AGM in Meru in early 2025, which reviewed 2024, chief executive Denis Kirimi reported that Yetu had crossed the KSh 1 billion revenue mark for the first time in its 33-year history. It had added more than 20,000 members in one year, reaching 104,159. Assets grew 23%, and net profit rose 58% to KSh 238 million. Loans and advances rose 37% to KSh 5.5 billion, and deposits grew 20% to KSh 4.9 billion, helped by its branch banking business.

When a Sacco grows this fast, look at two numbers: deposit growth and loan quality. Loans growing faster than deposits, as they did at Yetu in 2024, push a Sacco to manage its liquidity carefully. Keep an eye on the next AGM report to see whether the 13% deposit rate can be held.
