How to Pay an AMACO Premium
AMACO’s FAQ lists four ways to pay:
- M-Pesa till 4106404: the quickest option, which AMACO says carries no extra charge.
- M-Pesa paybill 542542, account number 858500: for direct premium payments.
- Cheque: payable to Africa Merchant Assurance Company (AMACO).
- RTGS or EFT: direct bank transfer. Ask the branch for the account details.
Keep your M-Pesa message and share it with your branch or agent so the payment is linked to your policy. If you are new to paybills, see our guide to paying a paybill with M-Pesa.
How to Report a Claim
The FAQ asks you to report a claim within 24 hours by calling 0725 951 951, emailing claims@amaco.co.ke or visiting a branch. The claims page gives a longer limit for motor and goods-in-transit losses: within 48 hours and no later than 7 days. Report as early as you can so you stay inside both.
Motor Claims
- Fill in the claim notification form, and call or email the claims department.
- Send the claim form, a police abstract (how to get a police abstract) and a copy of your policy schedule.
- For a comprehensive cover, take the vehicle to a garage on AMACO’s panel for assessment. A loss adjuster may be appointed to advise on liability and the amount.
- AMACO issues a discharge voucher, which is its settlement offer.
- After repairs, the car is re-inspected and you pay the policy excess before it is released.
AMACO notes that the Insurance Act allows 90 days to settle once all documents are in, and says it aims to settle within 30 days.
Windscreen Claims
You have two options. Either AMACO authorises a replacement at a glass dealer after you fill in the windscreen form and pay a reinstatement fee of 10% of the windscreen limit, or you replace it yourself and claim, sending photos of the damaged and new windscreens (with the number plate visible) and an ETR receipt. In that case the 10% reinstatement amount is deducted from the payout.
WIBA and Group Personal Accident Claims
Send the claim form, the injured person’s ID, three months of payslips before the accident, original medical receipts, the muster roll, labour department forms (LD 104, LD 105 or LD 108 depending on the injury) and a copy of the policy schedule.
Student Personal Accident Cover Prices
AMACO publishes prices for its cover for students on attachment or internship. It pays for accidental injuries, medical expenses, disability and accidental death at the place of attachment.
| Cover limit | Period | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Up to KSh 290,000 | 3 months | KSh 600 |
| Up to KSh 425,000 | 6 months | KSh 850 |
| Up to KSh 520,000 | 12 months | KSh 1,100 |
Before You Buy
For motor cover, use our car insurance premium estimator to get a rough figure, then ask AMACO or a licensed agent for a written quote. Check the excess, the windscreen limit and whether political violence is included. You can compare other insurers’ contacts, such as CIC Insurance contacts and Monarch Insurance contacts.
