Lipa Mdogo Mdogo Daily Payment Calculator: KSh a Day to Total

Updated 1 November 2026

To find what a phone really costs on Lipa Mdogo Mdogo, multiply the daily payment by the number of days in the plan and add the deposit: total = deposit + (daily payment × days). A plan advertised at “KSh 60 a day” over 12 months is KSh 21,900 in daily payments alone (60 × 365), before the deposit. This Lipa Mdogo Mdogo daily payment calculator page gives a ready reckoner table, the formula for weekly plans, and a way to compare the result with the cash price.

Updated November 2026. The figures below are maths, not any provider’s prices. Use the deposit, daily rate and term printed on your own offer.

Find your daily payment in the left column and read across to your plan length. These are the daily payments only; add your deposit to get the full total.

Daily payment 6 months (183 days) 9 months (274 days) 12 months (365 days) 18 months (548 days)
KSh 30 KSh 5,490 KSh 8,220 KSh 10,950 KSh 16,440
KSh 40 KSh 7,320 KSh 10,960 KSh 14,600 KSh 21,920
KSh 50 KSh 9,150 KSh 13,700 KSh 18,250 KSh 27,400
KSh 60 KSh 10,980 KSh 16,440 KSh 21,900 KSh 32,880
KSh 70 KSh 12,810 KSh 19,180 KSh 25,550 KSh 38,360
KSh 80 KSh 14,640 KSh 21,920 KSh 29,200 KSh 43,840
KSh 100 KSh 18,300 KSh 27,400 KSh 36,500 KSh 54,800
KSh 150 KSh 27,450 KSh 41,100 KSh 54,750 KSh 82,200

Plans are sometimes quoted in “days” rather than months. If your offer says 300 days, use 300, not a month estimate.

The formulas

  • Daily plans: Total = Deposit + (Daily payment × Number of days)
  • Weekly plans: Total = Deposit + (Weekly payment × Number of weeks). A year has 52 weeks.
  • Extra you pay over cash: Premium (KSh) = Total − Cash price
  • Premium as a percentage: Premium (%) = Premium ÷ Cash price × 100

Worked example (illustrative)

Say a phone sells for KSh 15,000 cash, and the instalment offer is a KSh 2,500 deposit plus KSh 50 a day for 365 days.

Step Working Result
Daily payments 50 × 365 KSh 18,250
Total paid 2,500 + 18,250 KSh 20,750
Premium over cash 20,750 − 15,000 KSh 5,750
Premium % 5,750 ÷ 15,000 × 100 38.3%

In this example the convenience of paying daily costs KSh 5,750, or about 38% more than paying cash. Your real numbers will differ; the point is to do the sum before you sign. Our Lipa Mdogo Mdogo true cost guide goes further, including how to estimate an annual interest rate.

Checks the daily figure hides

  1. Days you can’t pay. M-KOPA’s Kenyan terms let it deactivate a phone when you fall behind, and unlocking can need more than one payment. A plan is only affordable if you can pay on your worst days, not just your best.
  2. Extra products. Insurance, data bundles or a second product can raise the daily amount. Ask for the total in writing.
  3. Licence. Check the lender is CBK-licensed with our licence checker guide.
  4. Credit record. Missed payments can be reported to CRBs after notice; see Lipa Mdogo Mdogo and CRB.

Compare with other ways to pay

Run the same total for other options: a Sacco loan (use our Sacco loan calculators), Safaricom’s pay-on-credit service (see Faraja) or simply saving the daily amount first and buying cash. The option with the lowest total, that you can actually keep up with, is the cheapest.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the total cost of a Lipa Mdogo Mdogo phone?

Multiply the daily payment by the number of days in the plan and add the deposit. Then subtract the cash price to see how much extra you pay.

KSh 18,250 (50 × 365), before any deposit.

How much is KSh 100 a day for 6 months?

Usually, yes. Instalment totals are normally higher than the cash price because they include the cost of credit. Work out the premium before you sign.
