NEMIS is the Ministry of Education’s National Education Management Information System. Schools and learners are registered so that placement, capitation and transfers can be tracked.

Learner details usually required

  • Full name as on the birth certificate
  • Date of birth, gender, nationality
  • Home county and sub-county
  • Parent or guardian ID and contacts
  • Special needs information if any

School registration (admin)

  1. Use the official NEMIS portal (nemis.education.go.ke).
  2. Register the institution with legal documents, contacts and staff lists as prompted.
  3. Add learners with birth certificate details.
  4. Review and submit for validation.

Parents who only need a learner captured should work through the school’s NEMIS champion rather than creating parallel records.
