Easy Coach parcels

Easy Coach carries parcels between the towns on its network. You take the parcel to a booking office, where staff weigh it, price it and give you a waybill number. Share the waybill number with the receiver, who collects at the destination office with an ID. For lost, delayed or damaged parcels, email parcels@easycoachkenya.com with the waybill number or call the contact centre on 0709 100 000. Office locations and booking numbers are in our Easy Coach contacts guide.

The Guardian Coach parcels

The Guardian Coach lists parcel delivery among its core services, describing it as a nationwide courier service with tracking. Its head office is at Railways in Nairobi. The company is on the Communications Authority’s register of licensed postal and courier operators as Guardian Coach Limited. Call the head office numbers above for the branch nearest the receiver and for a quote.

Mash East Africa (Mash Poa) parcels

Mash Parcel Services offers door-to-door or counter-to-counter delivery and runs refrigerated buses for perishable cargo. The company says it takes the receiver’s live location to avoid delivery mistakes and has caravans at several locations. Its official contact page lists a parcel office number, +254 731 955 294, for both the Mombasa head office and the Accra Road office in Nairobi. Mash East Africa Limited is also on the licensed courier register, as an international operator.

Modern Coast courier

Modern Coast Courier was set up in 2002 as the courier arm of the Modern Coast group. Its company profile lists door-to-door delivery, a bike messenger service, invoice delivery, corporate document signing and return, and warehousing, with a 24-hour help desk. The National Transport and Safety Authority suspended Modern Coast buses in 2022 after the fatal Nithi bridge crash, and the company’s website returned an error when we checked on October 25, 2026. Call the numbers above to confirm that a parcel counter is open before you take a parcel there.

What a bus parcel will cost

Because no official rate cards are published, the only reliable price is the one quoted at the counter. In practice, the charge depends on:

  • the weight and size of the parcel, with bulky items such as mattresses and furniture priced separately;
  • the destination and whether it is on the company’s own route;
  • whether you want counter collection or home delivery, which costs extra where it is offered;
  • the declared value, if you choose to insure the parcel.

Ask for the total, including any packaging or insurance charge, before you pay, and make sure the amount is written on the waybill.

Tips for sending a parcel by bus

  • Pack fragile items in a sturdy box with padding and mark it clearly.
  • Write the receiver’s name and phone number on the parcel and on the waybill.
  • Declare the contents honestly, and ask the counter which items the company will not carry.
  • Keep the waybill until the receiver confirms collection, because you need it for any claim.
  • Check how long a parcel can stay at the destination office before storage charges apply.

Frequently asked questions

Which bus company is cheapest for parcels?

We can’t say, because none of the four publishes its rates. Call two or three companies that serve the destination and compare the quotes for the same weight.

Can I track a bus parcel?

The Guardian Coach and Mash say their parcels can be tracked. For Easy Coach, use the waybill number when you call the contact centre.

Who collects the parcel?

The named receiver collects at the destination office with an ID and the waybill number, unless you paid for home delivery.
