What each camp covers

Oshwal Nursery (ages 2 to 7)

Week 1 (30 November to 4 December) offers taekwondo, dance, music, Lego, art and craft, and drama. Week 2 (7 to 11 December) offers badminton and field games, riding cycles, chess, Christmas carols, sandpit play and sensory play with gardening. The school asks for payment by M-Pesa to Paybill 609392, with the account in the format “[Child’s Name] HC NUR”. That works out at about KSh 720 a day for a four-hour session if you book one week, or KSh 600 a day for both weeks.

Growthfluential (ages 6 to 18)

A one-week camp focused on hands-on digital skills, teamwork and “finding your purpose”, run in person in Nairobi or online. The fee is KSh 12,000, or about KSh 2,000 per three-hour day; a KSh 6,000 deposit holds a place and the balance is due before the camp begins.

Sports camps: dates still to come

Aegis Academy, a football academy for ages 3 to 19 at Grevillea Grove (off Brookside Drive, Westlands) and Kyuna, advertises weekly holiday camps on its website. Its current season ends on 5 December 2026, and December camp dates and prices were not yet posted when we checked. We will add them, and other sports, swimming and STEM camps, once organisers publish dated prices.

When is the December school holiday?

Schools on the national calendar closed Term 3 on 23 October 2026 for the long holiday, and Term 1 of 2027 is expected to open on Monday 4 January 2027, as reported from the Ministry of Education calendar. Confirm your own school’s dates, because private and international schools set their own. Public holidays in the break include Jamhuri Day (12 December), Christmas and Boxing Day; see our Kenya public holidays 2026 list.

How to choose a holiday camp

  1. Check the daily cost, not just the fee. Divide the price by the number of days and hours; the two camps above range from about KSh 600 to KSh 2,000 a day.
  2. Ask about ratios and staff vetting. How many children per adult, who supervises swimming or sports, and whether staff have police clearance.
  3. Pick-up, drop-off and meals. Half-day camps usually end before lunch; confirm whether snacks are included and who may collect your child.
  4. Pay only through official channels. Use the paybill or bank details on the organiser’s own site, and keep the M-Pesa message as proof.
  5. Ask about refunds. Deposits are often non-refundable; read the terms before paying.

Budgeting the December break

Two weeks of a half-day camp plus a week of a specialist camp can cost from KSh 6,000 to about KSh 18,000 per child on the published prices above. Plan around December’s bank and M-Pesa hours (see bank and M-Pesa hours over Jamhuri, Christmas and New Year) and keep January school fees in view; our Brookhouse school fees guide shows the scale of term fees at one Nairobi private school. Older children who want something active can try beginner padel clinics in Nairobi.
