What Royal Nairobi Golf Club Membership Fees Cost in Year One

Here is the cash Royal Nairobi Golf Club membership fees add up to in year one, before bar, dining and competition spending. These totals are our own sums of the club’s published fees.

Why Older Articles Quote Lower Royal Nairobi Golf Club Membership Fees

Many blog posts and forum answers still quote a Royal Nairobi joining fee of KSh 595,000. That is the club’s current one-off fee for an open-term corporate nominee, not for an individual. For individuals and families the club’s own page now lists KSh 1,200,000 and KSh 1,500,000. If anyone quotes you a different figure, ask the membership office for the current rate card in writing before you pay.

How to Join Royal Nairobi Golf Club

  1. Find two proposers. You must be introduced by at least two members who have belonged for at least three years and are in good standing. One member can propose only three candidates in a calendar year.
  2. Get the forms. Your proposer collects the application form from the membership office. The proposer, the seconder and you all fill it in.
  3. Attach the documents and pay. Two passport photos each for you, your spouse and children under 25, a detailed CV, ID or passport copies for you and your spouse, a marriage certificate or affidavit, and birth certificates for category placement. Foreign residents add an alien card and passport copy. Payment is made and the receipt attached to the form.
  4. Attend vetting. The membership and regulations committee meets you face to face, with your proposer, after at least 48 hours’ notice. Dress is formal: a suit and tie for men and official dress for women. If you are rejected, you cannot apply for another category for 12 months without the board’s consent.
  5. Collect signatures. Your proposer introduces you to seven directors and six members, whose signatures you collect.
  6. Notice board and ballot. Your form goes on the notice board for 30 days. If no member objects, you are invited to a balloting session with the board at least 72 hours ahead, then receive your membership card.

Royal Nairobi Golf Club membership fees are paid before vetting, with the receipt attached to your form. Between vetting and the ballot you get a temporary card. It lets you bring only your nuclear family, with no guests, no reciprocal access to other clubs, no vote, no club handicap and no club competitions.
