Updated 2 November 2026
Safaricom Home Fibre vs Zuku in short: both start at KSh 2,999 a month for 40 Mbps, but Zuku is faster for the money in the middle tiers (80 Mbps for KSh 3,999 and 100 Mbps for KSh 4,399) and advertises its home fibre as uncapped, while Safaricom offers more speed at the top (up to 1,000 Mbps), cheaper bulk-pay deals and fair usage limits of 1.5TB to 7TB. The right choice usually comes down to which network actually reaches your building, so check coverage for both before you decide.

Price per Mbps
Dividing the monthly price by the advertised speed shows where each provider is strongest:
- 40 Mbps: level, KSh 75 per Mbps on both.
- Middle tier: Zuku Bingwa works out at about KSh 50 per Mbps against about KSh 68 for Safaricom Silver, and Zuku Stream at about KSh 44 against about KSh 42 for Safaricom Gold, which is faster but KSh 1,900 dearer.
- Top tier: Safaricom Diamond (about KSh 25 per Mbps) and Platinum (KSh 20 per Mbps) beat Zuku Connect (about KSh 50 per Mbps).
These are advertised speeds. Real speeds depend on your Wi-Fi setup, the number of devices and the network in your estate.
Bulk pay can change the maths on Safaricom
Safaricom’s FAQs list bulk pay prices that cut the monthly cost. Bronze costs KSh 29,000 for 12 months against KSh 35,988 at the monthly rate, which works out at about KSh 2,417 a month. Silver is KSh 41,000 for 12 months and Gold KSh 65,000. If you can pay upfront and are staying put, Safaricom Bronze on a 12-month plan is cheaper than Zuku Shujaa at the same 40 Mbps. Platinum is not offered on bulk pay. Full tables are in our Safaricom Home Fibre packages guide.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Zuku if both reach your home and you want the most speed for KSh 4,000 to KSh 4,400 a month, or you want uncapped data and free installation.
- Choose Safaricom Home Fibre if you need 500 Mbps or more, can pay 6 or 12 months upfront, want a cheaper Fibre Lite plan, or already manage your bills through M-PESA and the MySafaricom App.
- Neither in your estate? Compare Safaricom 5G Home plans, which need only 5G coverage rather than a fibre line, or see our guide to internet providers in Kenya.
How to check coverage and sign up
