Updated 1 November 2026

Shopping for Black Friday phones in Kenya? The only way to know a deal is real is to record today’s price and compare it on the day. On 1 November 2026, two days into Kilimall’s Black Friday sale (30 October to 30 November), a Samsung Galaxy A16 (128GB, 4GB RAM) was listed from KSh 18,999 to KSh 20,900 depending on the seller, a Redmi 15C (128GB) from KSh 14,999 to KSh 17,999 and a TECNO Spark 50 (128GB) from KSh 17,899 to about KSh 20,900. This guide shows our price log, how to check a “was” price, and when Lipa Mdogo Mdogo makes sense. Updated November 2026.

Updated November 2026. Prices recorded by Business Radar from Kilimall Kenya search results on 1 November 2026 (marketplace listings by different sellers; they change daily and are not an endorsement). Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026; Cyber Monday is 30 November.

Black Friday phones Kenya price log (seen 1 November 2026)

Use this as your baseline. If a “Black Friday” price on 27 November is higher than the low end below, the discount is not real.

Phone (storage + RAM) Lowest seen (KSh) Highest seen (KSh) Notes from the listings
Samsung Galaxy A16 (128GB + 4GB) 18,999 20,900 Six listings; the cheapest was tagged “Black Friday Sale”
Redmi 15C (128GB) 14,999 17,999 Listings advertise “up to 8GB” RAM, which includes virtual RAM (4GB + 4GB)
TECNO Spark 50 (128GB) 17,899 20,872 Some listings say “12GB RAM” (4GB real + 8GB virtual)
Apple iPhone 13 (128GB, refurbished) 31,919 33,500 Refurbished, not new; check warranty terms

The spread between sellers for the same model was KSh 1,900 to KSh 3,000. That gap is often bigger than the Black Friday discount itself, so comparing sellers matters more than waiting for a banner.

How to run your own phone price check

  1. Pick the exact model and variant. Storage and real RAM change the price. “8GB” on a budget phone often means 4GB plus 4GB of virtual memory borrowed from storage.
  2. Screenshot prices now on two or three shops (Kilimall, Jumia, a brand or operator shop, and a physical shop). Save the date.
  3. Check again in the week of 23 November and on Black Friday itself. Compare like with like: same model, storage, RAM, colour and seller type.
  4. Look at the seller, not just the price. On marketplaces, phones are sold by third-party sellers. Check ratings, the number of reviews and whether the listing says “official store”. Our guide on how to check online sellers in Kenya explains what to look for.
  5. Read the return and warranty terms. Note the number of days you can return a faulty phone and whether the warranty is from the brand or only from the seller.

Kilimall says its 2026 sale includes daily flash sales and brand offers on phone makers such as Xiaomi, Infinix, TECNO and Samsung. For dates and your rights if a discount is fake, see Black Friday 2026 in Kenya and Jumia Black Friday 2026.

Black Friday or Lipa Mdogo Mdogo: which is cheaper?

Buying a phone on instalments almost always costs more than paying cash on a good day. Use the three numbers every plan has: the deposit, the instalment and the number of payments.

Worked example (round numbers, not a provider’s price) KSh
Cash price of the phone 20,000
Deposit 3,000
Daily payment x 365 days (KSh 60 a day) 21,900
Total paid on instalments 24,900
Extra cost over cash 4,900 (about 53% a year as a simple annual rate)

Compare that KSh 4,900 with a Black Friday saving of, say, KSh 1,500 to KSh 3,000 on a phone in this price range. If you can pay cash, the sale price wins by a wide margin. If you need the phone now to earn (for delivery or online work), instalments can still make sense; read how to work out the true cost of Lipa Mdogo Mdogo before you sign, and see Watu Simu phones, requirements and deposits for one provider’s terms.

Buy-now-pay-later and pay-as-you-go phone lenders fall under the Central Bank of Kenya’s licensing of non-deposit-taking credit providers. Check a lender is on CBK’s directory with our guide to CBK-licensed digital lenders, and remember late payments can be reported to credit bureaus: Lipa Mdogo Mdogo and CRB listing.

Checks before you pay for a phone

  • Is it new, refurbished or ex-UK? Listings for iPhones often say “refurbished”. Expect a shorter warranty.
  • Is the IMEI clean? Dial *#06# on the phone at delivery and keep the box with the matching IMEI.
  • Pay through the platform’s checkout or on delivery. Never send M-Pesa to a seller’s personal number from a chat.
  • Open the box at delivery where pay on delivery is offered, and test the screen, cameras, charging and SIM slots.
  • Keep the receipt. You need it for warranty and returns.

Black Friday phones Kenya: frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026 in Kenya?

Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday is 30 November. Kilimall’s sale runs from 30 October to 30 November 2026.

How much is the Samsung Galaxy A16 on Kilimall?

On 1 November 2026 we saw the 128GB plus 4GB version listed from KSh 18,999 to KSh 20,900 by different sellers. Prices change daily, so check before you buy.

Is it cheaper to buy a phone on Black Friday or on Lipa Mdogo Mdogo?

Paying cash on a genuine sale is cheaper. In our worked example, a KSh 20,000 phone on a year-long daily plan costs KSh 4,900 more than cash, far more than a typical sale discount.

How do I know if a Black Friday phone discount is fake?

Record the price for the same model, storage, RAM and seller a few weeks before. If the “was” price on the day is higher than what you recorded, the discount has been inflated.
