The Nairobi numbers, email, insurance line and hours come from Mololine Services Ltd’s website. The Nakuru number is the one that appears consistently in public directories and travel guides for the Nakuru stage. Phone numbers at individual stages change more often than head office lines, so if a stage number does not go through, call 0722 735 607 and ask to be connected.
Mololine booking offices
Nairobi
- Nyamakima (head office): Mololine House, Ground Floor, Cross Road. This is the busiest booking point and where most upcountry vehicles load.
- Latema Road: at Embassy Cinema, along Latema Road in the CBD.
The company’s website also lists Ruaka and Ongata Rongai among its routes, so there are pick-up points serving those suburbs. Ask the head office line which stage is closest to you before you travel.
Nakuru
Nakuru is where Mololine has the biggest share of its fleet. Its office there is at the bus stage on Jomo Kenyatta Highway, postal address P.O. Box 13668-20100, Nakuru.
Other towns
Mololine’s website lists Kisumu and Eldoret among its main routes, and travel directories mention vehicles to Kitale, Naivasha, Kericho, Kabarnet and Eldama Ravine. Stage locations in these towns are usually inside or next to the main matatu terminus. Confirm the exact pick-up point when you book, since stages are sometimes moved by county governments.
Routes Mololine serves
| From | To |
|---|---|
| Nairobi | Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu |
| Nairobi suburbs | Ruaka, Ongata Rongai |
| Nakuru | Nairobi, Eldoret, Kitale, Naivasha, Kericho, Kabarnet, Eldama Ravine, Kisumu |
Nairobi to Nakuru is the company’s best-known route and has the most frequent departures. Longer routes such as Nairobi to Kisumu have fewer vehicles, especially late in the day, so book ahead if you need a particular time.
How to book a Mololine ticket
Mololine does not run an online booking platform. Tickets are bought in two ways:
- At the office. Go to the booking window at Nyamakima, Latema Road, Nakuru or another stage, give your destination and name, and pay. You get a ticket with the vehicle and seat number.
- By phone. Call one of the booking lines, ask for a seat on a specific departure and confirm how to pay. Ask for the confirmation to be sent by SMS, and arrive early so the seat is not given away.
Mololine vehicles leave when full, so on busy routes a van may leave earlier than an advertised time once seats are taken. Travel early in the morning or book ahead during holidays, school opening and closing days, and the end of the month.

Fares
Mololine does not publish a fare table online. Fares depend on the route and change with fuel prices and demand, rising around public holidays and festive seasons. Call the booking line or ask at the window for the current fare before you travel. Pump price changes announced by the energy regulator every month are usually the trigger for fare reviews across the matatu sector.
Sending parcels with Mololine
Mololine runs a logistics and parcel service between the towns it serves. Drop your parcel at a booking office, give the receiver’s name and phone number, and pay the charge. Keep the receipt, since the receiver will usually need to give the parcel number and show an ID when collecting. Fragile items and documents should be packed properly and declared at the counter. For parcels going abroad or to towns Mololine does not serve, compare with the courier options in our guide to postal and courier charges.
