Mhasibu Sacco charges from 0.92% a month on its Rahisi Loan, which is secured by your own deposits, to 5% a month on the instant Mobi Loan in its app. Most other products cost about 1% to 1.17% a month: Swift, Biashara and Self-Guaranteed loans are around 1%, and the Salary Check-Off, Gold and Mortgage loans are about 1.17%. The Sacco is headquartered at Absa Towers on Loita Street, Nairobi, and says membership is open to all Kenyans and the diaspora. The figures below come from Mhasibu’s own product pages, checked on October 31, 2026.

Monthly vs annual rates
Mhasibu quotes rates per month. Multiply by 12 for a rough annual rate: 0.92% a month is about 11% a year, 1.17% a month is about 14%, and the Mobi Loan’s 5% a month is about 60% a year. That makes Mobi one of the priciest ways to borrow from a Sacco, so treat it as a short-term emergency option only.
Here is our own estimate using a standard reducing-balance formula, not a Sacco quote. KSh 300,000 on a Rahisi Loan over 24 months costs about KSh 14,000 a month, or roughly KSh 35,700 in total interest. The same amount as a Mobi Loan over 6 months at 5% a month costs about KSh 59,100 a month and roughly KSh 54,600 in interest.
Eligibility rules that matter
- Check-off loan: your salary must have come through the Sacco for at least six months. Repayment is capped by the two-thirds rule, based on the lowest net pay in your last six months, and you need deposits of at least 10% of the loan.
- Biashara loan: your business income must have gone through your Sacco account for at least six months and keep doing so for the whole loan. You also need 10% in deposits and full security.
- Mortgage: you must have been a member in good standing for at least a year. The house you buy is the security.
- Asset finance: vehicles must be no more than 10 years old.
- Gold Loan: it can buy out your other Sacco loans at a 2.5% refinancing rate. Security can be land, a vehicle, a unit trust or money market fund, NSE shares, a life policy or a Mhasibu fixed deposit.
