Amref Sacco Loans: Karibu M-Cash Mobile Loan, Instant Pesa, Miliki Mortgage and Rates

Amref Sacco Loans: Karibu M-Cash Mobile Loan, Instant Pesa, Miliki Mortgage and Rates

Amref Sacco’s mobile loan, Karibu M-Cash, lends up to KSh 50,000 with no paperwork or guarantors through USSD *276*30#. It charges a one-off 7.5% on KSh 20,000 or less (repaid within 60 days) and 8.5% on KSh 20,001 to KSh 50,000 (repaid within 90 days). For bigger amounts, the Instant Pesa loan gives up to KSh 200,000 over 10 months for a one-off 6% to 7%. The main BOSA loans cost 1% a month on a reducing balance and lend up to 3.5 times your deposits. These terms come from the Sacco’s official product brochure, published in 2023 for its 40th anniversary and still online when we checked on October 31, 2026. Rates may have changed since then, so confirm them with the Sacco before you borrow.

Mobile loan vs BOSA loan: the real cost

Here is our own estimate, not a Sacco quote. Borrowing KSh 50,000 on Karibu M-Cash costs KSh 4,250 for up to 90 days. The same amount as an Emergency Loan at 1% a month over 3 months costs about KSh 1,000 in interest. Use the mobile loan for speed, but turn to a BOSA loan when you can wait for approval. Our reducing-balance calculator guide shows how to work out the figures.
