Waumini Sacco Loans 2026: Development, Makao Plus, Mjengo and Mobile Loan Rates

Updated 31 October 2026

Waumini Sacco, registered in 1980 and headquartered at Applewood Adams on Ngong Road, Nairobi, charges 12% on its Development Loan (up to 72 months, 4 times deposits and shares). Its Emergency, School Fees, Self-Guaranteed and Top-up loans cost 1% a month on a reducing balance. For property there are two products: Makao Plus lends up to KSh 15 million at 13% a year over 15 years, and Mjengo lends up to KSh 5 million at 12.5% over 10 years. Short mobile and salary advances charge 10% upfront. All terms come from Waumini Sacco’s BOSA and FOSA loan pages, checked on October 31, 2026.

What these loans cost

Here is our own estimate using standard amortisation, not a Sacco quote. KSh 3 million on Makao Plus at 13% over 15 years costs about KSh 38,000 a month, for roughly KSh 3.83 million in total interest. On Mjengo at 12.5% over 10 years, KSh 3 million costs about KSh 43,900 a month and roughly KSh 2.27 million in interest. The longer Makao term means a smaller payment but more interest overall. For bank alternatives, see our mortgage guide.

The Loan Restructuring product charges 12.5% commission on any extra cash you take, so ask for the full cost before you consolidate.
