Winas Sacco Loan Products 2026: Salary, Check-Off and Business Loans Explained

Winas Sacco Loan Products 2026: Salary, Check-Off and Business Loans Explained

Updated 31 October 2026

Winas Sacco, based in Embu, offers 15 loan products in three groups: salary loans repaid through its FOSA (from one month up to 72 months), check-off loans deducted from your payslip (up to 120 months for development and buy-off loans), and business loans for traders, farmers and larger ventures (from one month up to 84 months). The details below come from Winas Sacco’s own product pages, checked on October 31, 2026. The Sacco describes its rates as “affordable” and mostly on a reducing balance basis but does not publish the percentage, so ask for the current rate before applying.

Winas Sacco salary loans (FOSA)

Loan Repayment period Notes
Salary in Advance (Mobile Advance) 1 month Instant, for salaried members
Salary Advance 1 to 12 months Repaid from salary or pension through FOSA; apply online
Emergency Loan 13 to 24 months Instant; repaid through FOSA
Fosa Instant Loan 25 to 72 months Instant; repaid through FOSA
Fosa Jijenge Loan 13 to 72 months For private-sector staff paid through Winas and retirees whose pension is paid through the Sacco

Salary loans need your salary or pension to be processed through Winas Sacco’s FOSA, because that is how repayments are recovered.

Loan Repayment period Notes
Personal Loan 36 months Short-term domestic needs; reducing balance
Development Loan 37 to 120 months Capital-intensive projects such as building; reducing balance

Winas Sacco business and SME loans

Loan Repayment period Limit basis Who it targets
Soko Loan 1 to 4 months 3x deposits Working capital for business members
Biashara Loan 1 to 48 months 3x to 5x deposits, depending on account flow Retail and wholesale, including mama mboga and jua kali
Kilimo Loan 1 to 48 months Not stated Commercial farming
Capital Loan 49 to 84 months Ability to pay, not a deposit multiplier Schools, hospitals, hotels, petrol stations, supermarkets
Micro-credit Loan Flexible Group-based Chamas and small-scale businesses

How the deposit multiplier works

Most Sacco loans are capped at a multiple of your savings (deposits). With a 3x multiplier, KSh50,000 in deposits supports a Soko Loan of up to KSh150,000. A Biashara Loan can go up to 5x if your business account shows strong flow. The Capital Loan and Premier Loan break this rule: they are based on your ability to repay or on minimum share capital instead.

Winas also lists a Current Account, Step Gap Account, Jolly Junior and Scholars accounts for children, a Holiday Account, a Biashara/Kilimo-Biashara Account and a Fixed Deposit Account. Mobile services run on M-Winas.

Is a Sacco buy-off worth it?

The Premier Loan and Bank Loans Buyoff can lower your rate if you are paying a high bank or digital-lender rate. But a longer term (up to 120 months) can increase total interest paid. Compare the total cost, as explained in our sacco loan buy-off guide, and use a reducing-balance calculator before signing.

Who can join Winas Sacco

Winas Sacco is a deposit-taking Sacco headquartered in Embu, and its loan products are open to members only. To borrow, you first join by buying the minimum share capital and then saving regular monthly deposits, because most loans are calculated as a multiple of what you have saved. Salaried members usually have their pay processed through the Sacco’s front office (FOSA), which lets the Sacco recover salary loans directly. Business owners can instead show flow through a Biashara or Kilimo-Biashara account. Ask the nearest branch for the current membership fee, minimum share capital and how long you must save before you qualify for each loan, since these details are not listed on the product pages.

Tips before you apply

  • Ask for the interest rate as an annual figure and confirm whether it is on a reducing balance or flat basis.
  • Ask about loan processing fees, insurance (loan protection) and any guarantor requirements.
  • Check how much of your payslip will remain after deductions; employers often cap check-off deductions.
  • For business loans, keep six to twelve months of clean account records so the Sacco can assess cash flow.
  • Use the shortest repayment period you can afford, since longer terms add interest even at a lower rate.
